[DISCUSSION]:Episode love interests that are legit jerks

Love interests are supposed to be charming and handsome yet smart, considerate and understanding. But are there some kinds you love to hate?

  1. My First Everything
    The romance in this story is so wrong, confusing and disgusting.
    The basic recap of those intimate moments is that you’ve been crushing on the school’s golden boy, Shane, since kindergarten, and told him how you feel about that, only to get smacked by the unfortunate news that he and Amanda, your arch nemesis, are dating. Then Ryder Lee comes in and gives you his shirt, also offering to make Shane jealous by stealing you away to a secret lake where you (make out with a stranger you met for like five seconds like a total sl*t just because he’s good looking and sent Principal Levy’s car on fire) kiss him.
    Wheeze cough
    Shane is green with envy and for some reason breaks up with Amanda. (Really, Shane?) Then that night Ryder sneaks into our room, and Shane joins too by climbing through the window and screaming at Ryder that he’s breaking and entering (while Shane is blissfully unaware he is the one trespassing). The two punch each other and Amanda calls the cops on Ryder, then bails him out of jail exactly like that s*x-crazed, self-obsessed psycho she is. And just because of that, RYDER AGREES TO BECOME AMANDA’S DATE TO HER PARTY! He legit stood up to the MC and wants another chance? What the h*ll is wrong with our supposed love interest?
    OK, let me wrap that up:
    EXHIBIT A
  • Shane says Amanda and him are dating, but breaks up with Amanda because he’s jealous of Ryder and the MC. Make up your mind please!
    EXHIBIT B
  • Seems really interested in you, then stood you up for Amanda (I know busting someone out of jail is kinda a big deal, but really…the betrayal tainted my opinion on Ryder) and then begs for another chance.

Maybe author wanted to make story fast, and didn’t thought about this? like you see now new readers must to read all of their Episode stories, so new readers won’t have anything else to read

Idk, yeah that could be 1 reason, I just wish they’d pay more attention to how realistic their characters’ personalities are :((

I don’t think any love interest is that great I don’t get how it’s romantic to be treated like shit. But hey readers love toxic relationships I know of a few that are good relationships but that’s rare.

I just think that when you’re creating a love interest you should create them just like you did the main character. Giving them the same amount of detail and depth and an overall engaging personality. That way they’re not just a love interest but a well-rounded character with human thoughts and flaws.

^^ So the love interests you mentioned have clearly been created to ‘accompany’ the MC and not to add to the story. This is why they’re disliked.

I hated almost every single LI that was introduced in a featured story. They are either criminals, a$$holes, misogynist, rich f**k boys, or total man-whores.
Also why is it that the MC never demands that these man-whores take an STD test, like you wanna sleep with someone who has slept with a hundred other people and you have no fears that you can catch HIV/AIDS from them. SMH

Some types readers claim to hate yet can’t get enough of:

  • Bad boys. Obvi.
  • Rich CEOs that are either 1. too busy to get in a relationship or 2. surrounded by fangirls
  • Manwh*res that aren’t used to rejection

I didn’t hate the LI from Rebounding With Bad. The rest of them I either despised or found forgettable. It probably says a lot that it’s easier for me to think of the one I like best than to narrow down my least favorites to the one I hate most.
