Discussion: Episode Opinions

I interpret it as, from what I’ve read from others, that some people force diversity like only making POC and LGBTQ+ characters one dimensional and side characters without any backstory.

  • I don’t like name choices, especially because I never play as myself.
  • I prefer good guy LIs
  • I can’t stand tragic, sad endings because they depress me and leave me with a bitter taste whenever I remember the story, no matter how much I liked it.
  • I don’t like it when the author asks questions at the end of each chapter such as “Will they kiss?” “What did she find in the envelope?” Find out in the next chapter! I don’t know why; it just feels unnecessary to me.

I love sad endings.

I generally don’t like sad endings. Even if the story is very dark, I at least hope for a bitter-sweet ending.

I think I’m the only person who is fine if not kinda like the pregnancy arc in a story (depends on the LI of course). Seeing the MC and the LI being happily married and raising a family together (having hardships and struggles but powering through them) fills me with so much joy (no pun intended).

Same here… I’m way too melancholic, and I just end up feeling depressed and empty when I read a story with a sad ending. Bittersweet endings are fine, as long as they fit the story.

Some people say that they hate excessive description in episode stories cuz it’s a visual medium… I love it! I love them describing what I’m seeing in more detail, but more importantly describing feelings and stuff. Like ik we’re seeing snow but does the character like the snow? Are they freezing? How long have they been out there? Etc.

I also don’t really like choices lol.

Yeah, I like the description of emotions.

Opinion: authors shouldn’t be lazy when creating the plot and character development.
Most of the said “cringe” stories are due to authors applying someone else’s ideas completely, change a set of characters and it’s a new story.
It doesn’t work like that… Most of the time, those “less qualified stories” are just unpolished. They’re rushed. The authors don’t take enough time constructing a good plot simply because they want to get it over with.
Look, if writing feels like an assignment, so stressful that you have to copy someone else’s work, then good news! It’s not compulsory to be an author in the Episode community. Therefore, you don’t have to write someone else’s stories which seriously ticks me off.

A good, clean edit will always be more visually pleasing and effective for story-telling than the grandest art scene.
