Discussion: Friends with Benefits, a new featured story

Most of them, but the only other story which haven’t updated in a while is My Camp Boys

Did that one get officially released? I don’t have it anywhere.

I don’t know myself, may need to check later. (Edit: Yeah, Episode hadn’t announced My Camp Boys yet)

Besides my app being janky, seriously I wanna know how much of an editing mess the story is after chapter 3

I only have 3 too.

So this is extra weird . I hope this would be consistent eventually

Updating this, because it just got five new chapters

Edit: I don’t remember who said it, but I think that depending on the MC gender choice, the story does kinda acknowledge Shay’s Bisexuality. If you’re playing a girl, the line in chapter one is at girl is offered on a plate’, while as a boy you say ‘someone…’. I’m not sure how much farther this is effective since the gender pronoun thing is inconsistent. But at least it’s most appreciated in the first chapter

I only read two chapters but I’m enjoying this one a lot. The directing is really great and tbh the characters are somewhat ok for now.

ok, the featured story is actually nice and very diverse, with lots of resources from Episode because Episode had to change a lot of characters; otherwise, it would be another boring white people’s story. BUT, the original story s*cks. For real. Bad grammar, bad directing, bad plot, I could talk about it all day. I gave a chance to it, but I just can’t read anymore.
And the fact that episode chose that kind of story, when there are so many others so amazing, with great directing and differents plots that we’re used to, just makes me sad.
That’s it. Shame on Episode for choosing it.

OH, I forgot to say that FWB is sexist and the MC and her LI are always talking trash about other girls (in case you play as a girl). Hello, we’re on the twenty one century :woman_facepalming:t2:

Lol, glad to see I’m not the only one with that sentiment

It may be just me, but it was obvious which directing was from the original and which came from Episode. Stuff like the new intro and bottle spinning looked more cleanly polished, then, say, a scene in chapter 4 when MC just exited left through that specific command, but you can still see their body.

Also, it seems like this story was less preachy about SA and consent too

we have enemies with benefits
what’s next, aliens with benefits?

I noticed this too. They actually changed this one more than they usually do to make it less mean-spirited and slut-shamey in the featured version.

I think the story definitely benefited from the story ending as neatly as it did, since most of the more problematic stuff happens after chapter 6 In the original

Not gonna read the Episode version coz this was one of the stories I read when I first started reading Episode and stupidly thought more reads meant it was probably good. It was definitely extremely graphic. I don’t know if Episode allowed her to keep all those in the original when it clearly way breaches their own rules. Anyway, I chose Leo. He is probably the least popular choice. Out of all the guys, even though he was flawed, he was the most mature. I don’t like bad boys or immature boys. Never have. Also I really hated Aimee and wanted to piss her off, lol.

I feel like the MC of the story and Aimee are just kinda problematic. I haven’t read the original, however I did read the full Featured Episode version. First of all, there were a lot of directing/editing errors which ig I would let slide if it was a user story, but it’s a featured story, so I just found it kinda strange that they didn’t catch those errors.

I also don’t like how the MC inserts herself in the whole Leo and Aimee situation. I don’t think Aimee really had the right to mad at Leo for being with Ivory either, especially when she had played with Leo’s emotions in the past. The way the MC and Aimee treat Ivory also just make them seem sh*tty people/characters. For ex. when they all were at the beach, Ivory told the MC that she thought Aimee was trying to take Leo away from her. The MC got mad at Ivory for saying that, despite her knowing damn well that it was true!! They deliberately make you ruin Leo and Ivory’s relationship through out the whole story. Who in their right mind would do that to your so-called “best friend”. They also give you no choice but to be a btch towards Ivory when she’s done nothing wrong.

Also, the choices you make don’t matter. For ex. when Aimee suggests spreading rumors about Shay and the MC getting together after the party. I chose no, and Aimee does it anyway which just felt like a slap in the face. I mean, I was kinda expecting that going in to it but it’s still frustrating. I also spent a fair amount of diamonds on this story because I wanted to ‘spice things up’, but just out of curiosity I went back to see if those choices mattered either. I found that in most cases if you don’t invite the LI to come with you or something, they just show up anyway or she/he will just ask you if they can come. Which also felt like a f you because they’re making you spend diamonds to get an outcome that would happen regardless of if you spent diamonds or not.

Lol. Trust me though, I rather have this than the original’s … that’s all I’m gonna say.

This is something from a Disney sitcom.

I’ve never read the original. But seeing what you guys have said about it on this thread… I don’t really want to!

One of the silliest things in this story is that the MC and the love interest end up literally kissing one another in the MC’s room during her party, but after that, they still say and think that they’re just friends.

I’m like: “Friends make out in eachother’s rooms during a party?”

Urgh. Humans confuse me.

I checked out the original version of Friends w/ Benefits and I don’t even know why I bothered… there were 2 versions, Ink and Classic…the dialogue was poorly written, grammar mistakes, etc. etc. The featured version is much better…the fact that this was a friends-fall-in-love topic was new and unique to Episode so here it is
