Discussion : Glitch Girl

k, Seth’s got issues :joy:

First of all, I got imidiate red flags when he screamed at that lady who was (rightfully) upset that they turned up late. It came off really violent and quite scary. I may have been able to see Seth’s side of the argument better, if he had just explained things to that woman normally. However, Seth’s anger issues here, could be treated by just going to get help for those fits of anger, but this is not the biggest turn off for me.

Seth proposing to Grace, after they’ve known each other for a week. I really didn’t like the way this scene was handled. There are so many questions I have for Grace and for Seth, here, that never got answered. It’s just:

Seth: Grace! Marry me! I’ve never connected with someone this much in my life!

Grace (determinant): Seth, we’ve known each other for a week, and we’re only seventeen (I think)! I’m not ready!

Seth: But Grace, there is a whole crowd of people listening, please don’t do this to me…

Grace: I don’t know Seth—

Seth: SHE SAID YES!

they kiss

Like— what? And then afterwards, no one acknowledges what had happened. Grace just goes home, and tells her grandma that she’s engaged.

And, also, how horrible was it for Seth to propose in front of a crowd? Like, that’s essentially peer pressuring Grace into accepting his proposal, and that’s not cool at all. Grace didn’t even say yes! (at least with the choice that I picked)

Soooo… I think Seth could be the villain, now :joy: I’m getting serious Kellan vibes (the Ember Effect). But, I also think it’s quite shady that we haven’t seen Corey yet? Like, I’ll be able to make a more informed decision on Corey’s true intentions once him and Grace have an actual conversation, and see each other face to face.

Yeah where is Corey

Mhm!
I also think that the grandma will be the person who reveals Zero to be Seth or Corey (or someone else, who knows). This is another reason I think Seth could be Zero. Just after Grace announced that she was engaged to Seth, her grandma spoke for the first time in years. (I also think what she said was supposed to be a warning. I mean, “blood orange”? what’s that supposed to mean?)

So, I think that near the end of the story, during the climax, Grace’s grandmother will begin speaking. Not full sentences, but directly warning Grace about who Zero is. This will be played as the part of the story, where Seth comes over or something, and it’s all eerie and such, because Grace now knows that he’s crazy, but Seth doesn’t know that she knows. This has been done before in Joseph Evans stories (in fact, I think it was done in almost all of them?) so I think it’s possible.

This is just a prediction though

I think so too. I thought it was Corey but we havent seen him since the explosion plus seths behaviour makes me more suspicious.

Great, now I’m thinking way too much about how “blood orange” could connect to Seth  :grimacing:

I think Corey will be the villian and Seth is obsessed to be like his idol (the old superhero). In my opinion he wanted to be superhero so bad that he had gone mad.

I don’t know… I don’t think Joseph Evans would leave the reader without love interests, when romance has always played such a big part of his books.

(Because if he wasn’t creepy before, Seth honestly needs to go now after that whole proposal mess.)

it’s awesome!

I don’t think that Seth has any actual powers but the MC has to have gotten hers from someone right?
Maybe the woman/person seen going behind the curtain wasn’t zero but rather someone trying to stop him?
Haha I have no idea, just throwing my guesses out there

Also, just a quick question, how did the grandmother know that there was a bomb in the theater? It all happened so fast, but from what I recall, all we saw was someone whisper something in the mayors ear, the mayor runs away, and then next thing you know the grandma is warning Grace that there is a bomb, and she pushes her down, saving her. How exactly did she, herself know about the bomb? Because, nobody else in the theater seems to have this knowledge.

Just adding onto my theory that Seth is Zero; could it be possible that the grandmother saw Zero (cough Seth? cough) backstage, setting up the explosive or something. His hood was off, and the grandmother got a decent look at his face. She ran to save Grace from the explosion; and the rest is history. Also, this could explain Zero’s powers. Seth could have gotten his powers (that is, if he is Zero) from the radiation of the explosion, just like Grace did.

This could also be why the grandmother began speaking once Grace and Seth announced that they were engaged? Because she remembers him as the person who implanted the explosive?

This is yet again, just a theory

I have a feeling that Corey’s girlfriend has some involvement with the whole Zero thing. For starters she was desperate to prevent Grace and Corey from reuniting that night. She casually acts like the “jealous girlfriend” but could this actually be for a reason?
And how was she so quick to find out about Grace? Maybe she just feels thraathened with Grace’s relationship with Corey but I can’t help but think how quick she was to claim Corey. In parallel to this how quick Seth was to sweep Grace of her feet and to claim her as his. Seth and the girlfriend, I wonder…

Wait… did this happen if you chose to meet up with Corey? I didn’t and I don’t remember this lol

Yes it did. You go to meet him and you get a message from him, but it’s really his girlfriend basically telling you to back off.

Oh lol so you don’t actually end up meeting him at all?
I seriously thought if you chose that then you would have actually met him and had a mini date scene . No wonder no gems were involved lol

Hahaha. I should have known I would get cock-blocked when there was no gems involved, but I fell for it anyway

Seth needs to die tbh

Yeah, if you chose to meet up with him. I actually don’t remember if you get to choose to or not :joy:

Yeah, but something that really sucks on Episode’s part, is that there is a gem choice for an outfit if you decide to meet up with him.

This would be a complete waste of gems for all of the readers who clicked the gem choice, which really sucks :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Warning you, my opinion is long because I’ve got a lot to say.

Firstly, I really enjoyed Glitch Girl but after reading everyone’s opinions, amazing points were made, and now the story feels too weird and after all the Seth theories, I’m starting to believe he’s untrustworthy. :scream:

Opinion on Production/Effects

Anyways, as far as production goes, the story is great. The effects were really cool, as for the spot directing and how you/Grace chose to save people, by using your/Grace’s powers. What I guess I mean by production is like, the explosion was done very nicely, the camera shake, the smoke, it looked difficult to pull off. And how when Seth and Grace blew up that door handle thing, (I don’t remember if it was a choice so it could’ve just been for some people) was also done nicely.

Opnions on Storyline

But the storyline, which is the key to every story, was a bit bland, confusing, and dare I say cliche in some ways, which makes me sad to say because Joseph Evans is an amazing author in my opinion, and I really enjoyed his stories so I was really looking forward to this story. This isn’t me saying I didn’t enjoy it because overall, I did. But it was just too coincidental that Seth had the exact inventions (with him, too! Like, does he bring every invention with him wherever he goes?) for every situation they were in. It, to me as a reader, felt like Seth was in some ways an excuse of a character just for a love interest and a way to get Grace out of problems faster and he was just there so his inventions could solve problems and ‘save people’ easier. Not to mention how rushed Grace and Seth’s relationship felt. When he proposed, I was so confused.

Conclusion and Extra Thoughts

In conclusion, this story is okay. I have faith that it will get more interesting because right now it feels like my relationship with the few characters you even can have a relationship with are limited. Like Harper, you can only be her friend and so far, they haven’t had any arguments, with Seth you can only be his girlfriend, and with the grandmother, you can only be protective of her. And it also feels like my choices don’t have that much of an effect. Like people were saying, you still marry Seth if you say no. If you choose to see Corey, you don’t even meet up with him. But still, Joseph Evans remains a favorite author of mine and I think this story is unique from all the other bad boy romance stories Episode keeps adding.

I probably didn’t have to say this much but when I started writing, it just started to flow out so…yeah.

Ugh I hate that. Isn’t there an outfit choice in another story where you have to spend like 20 gems on some outfit for a date and then you get stood up?
