Discussion: How Bad Was Your First Story?

My gosh. Literally almost all of my current pet peeves are in my first story.

At the time, I was still getting a grasp on coding, so I didn’t really understand animations. I would use pose animations while someone was supposed to be talking, which resulted in a character literally holding some random pose while a speech bubble was in front of them… not sure how I reviewed this and decided to publish my story like this…

I also had really terrible episode lengths. There was customization in the first three episodes, so I really didn’t need to go above 1000, which made my episodes actually line 500 lines long.

I also had no clue where the story was going to go. I just wrote what I felt like and didn’t really have anything set in stone.

And here are more things I did that I cringe at:

  1. Used a default character to represent an important character (I only changed the name, not the appearance or outfit)
  2. Was really lazy with coding so sometimes the main male character would be shorter than the main female character, and sometimes he would not be
  3. Had an unnecessarily long dressing game where the character would do a dance after putting on each outfit
  4. Made two of the male characters look almost identical
  5. Terrible dialogue. One of the lines was like, “I need to go up there, I must!”
  6. Did an author cameo at the end. After re-reading, I realized that “me” looked nothing like me. I didn’t really care about the mouth or nose or eyes, I would only change the skin tone, eye color, hair color and style, and lip color. So I had a really thin nose and lips (I’m black with a wide nose and big lips)

Sorry if this is long, but my first story was really, really atrocious. Luckily, I’ve hidden and it has a pretty basic name which would make it harder to find through the search tab.
