Some of the things being spread is because some people don’t want to listen. Like for the ink misinformation. Even me as an ink lover I knew what was being spread was a little dramatic. Even after many people try stating that ink is not being removed, some people purposefully ignore it or continue to spread nonsense because that’s what the majority is doing so they also wanna join in. It is a little annoying and is hard to take some people seriously when you’re spreading false information. How do you expect episode to listen to us and take us seriously when you’re spreading false things and then wonder why some things are not being done?
Looking into some stuff on Instagram so far, it’s very fascinating to see how this misinformation can spread fast. And this is not the first, Nor would be the last, ‘controversy’ to spring up, like the overlay/hidden background situation.
I think one way to help clear up a lot of misinformation surrounding the guidelines at least is to update and clarify them. As far as excessive violence, we have a very limited idea of what exactly that means. I can imagine how jarring it would be for authors who’ve been careful to follow the guidelines to receive an email saying their story has been suspended because they can’t have more than 5-10 punches in a scene, or can only have a certain amount of curse words per chapter. Or cannot have crossovers or other authors in their story (which is contradictory to the wording in the guidelines right now).
It’s kind of hard to follow the guidelines when we don’t even know what they are. What reviewers have in front of them and what we have in front of us seems to differ greatly, so it is extremely easy for confusion and disinformation to take place in this situation. If a violation affects a major part of their story (such as a crossover, which can take over an entire chapter or two and sometimes drastically affect the plot), it is sometimes necessary for the author to inform their readers of the changes they’re having to make. What naturally results then is community wide confusion and mild panic from other authors who have done the same thing and weren’t aware of this rule because it isn’t stated clearly in the guidelines. And then you get the mess that has been this weekend.
While clearer guidelines won’t stop all disinformation (because some confusion does sometimes happen because some authors just don’t read the guidelines), I think it could help clear up a good portion of unnecessary confusion, and in the end it will be much easier on the staff and the rest of us. If the reviewers have clear written instructions that they use to review a story, the community needs to be able to know what those are. Many of us want to follow the guidelines, but again…we can’t do that if we can’t see them.
idk about INK being removed but rn there’s this thing called Episodestrike(you can check the hashtag on instagram)and everyone is going crazy and if you are part of EpisodeStrike it basically means you refuse to read, write, or use the app in general due to people thinking it’s being unfair to INK and giving more rights to Limelight authors.
I’m not surprised at all that we as a community spreads misinformation. It’s been done too many times now, and it’s not really the right thing to do. I agree with us asking more questions and inquiring more information about what’s going on before we jump the gun. I do think that we tend to freak out and let our emotions take control over us; it leads to exaggeration.
Personally, I don’t like the strike. I don’t think Episode will notice that half of the community isn’t using their app and writing stories. They probably will, but I don’t think they’ll make a big deal out of it.
Did they really think ink was going to be removed before classic? Wot?
2+2 = fish
Yes it’s so crazy plus I think by leaking some things in the featured portal after probably signing a contract with episode is really not a smart thing to do and it’s just to add drama and will just make episode not wanting communication
I also think that sometime the blame is on the community because some don’t read the guidelines or term of services and they start doing it deeply but then episode takes time to catch on and when they does everyone is mad like the background situation but it could have been avoided if they read the guidelines and didn’t act stupid on purpose sorry but they were called “hidden” backgrounds for a reason
What’s also funny about this is that some people defended themselves by saying “you let me do this before! Why are you enforcing it now?” Like, you knew what you were doing was wrong, but you continued to do it anyway? ![]()
Exactly it’s like downloading things Illegally knowing it’s not good but your défense is you never stopped me before so you shouldn’t stop me now that you catches’d me
Since this is a discussion post.
Correct if I’m wrong or if I’m not making any sense.
Don’t bite the hand that feeds you.
The reason I say this is because lately some people have been acting really ungrateful towards the episode team. I get it, they should have handle the situation better. At the end of the day… we should actually start reading the guidelines. It’s quite obvious that some don’t. I for one… will admit I didn’t read all of the guidelines lol. I don’t want to sound like I’m “defending episode” but without episode your story wouldn’t be put out in the world. Episode gave you a platform. The least some of you can do is be grateful. This strike? Is dumb. You want to strike? Leave episode. This crossover? Is not that deep. Take a breather and really think to yourself… should I stress over something so small?
Here’s two tips: Admit when you’re wrong & admit when you overreacted.
I feel like I ran into circles with this post. haha
Disclaimer: If the shoe doesn’t fit.
No this makes perfect sense and I wish more would understand this. It’s not even bad to defend Episode if they did nothing wrong. Unfortunately, some don’t get that.
I just think a lot of this community has built of resentment from whatever the last thing that caused drama was so the second that episode slips up they just go off lol.
I think they’ll probably address it like they did with the punching animation limit issue.
I’m assuming it’s a pride thing maybe, but everybody seems to forget that the episode team are human.
True that…
Absolutely. Episode itself obviously runs like a business. But the people who work there are just ordinary people who make mistakes.
These people, whether it’s the PR team or the review team, aren’t maliciously planning to ruin your lives. They’re only doing the work they’re paid to do.
Probably from LL fans who made post like “INK is over” and ppl saying “no one uses INK LL is supeior”
