6a. Would you like to see more of these types of stories?
6b. If you were to play one, what kind of theme or genre do you want it to be based on?
Itâs always important however, to not be too âinspiredâ by existing reality TV shows. Some authors tend to do this, making it a clone of The Bachelor or something else and thatâs not allowed on Episode
I love playing reality show stories especially when there are a lot of choices. I also love when there are eliminations in each episode and when there are mini games. I donât really enjoy them much when there arenât any choices. I think the best genre for such stories is comedy
I donât think itâs overused. And even if it is, I donât care Iâll read anyways
Love triangles, girl next door MC.
The story being just like Big Brother or The Bachelor. Sure, you can take some parts of their concept, but donât just rip them off.
To me an interesting challenge is one that tests your knowledge, reflexes and critical thinking, like a race/treasure hunt (with meaningful choices) or sports (with timed choices).
a) Yes!!!
b) Drama/comedy, but I would read it in whatever genre tbh. I would love to see a parody too.
Do you enjoy reading and playing reality TV show stories?
YES! Do you think the concept is overused?
I actually think that it is pretty underused. I cannot name that many stories that take place in reality TV shows. What do you think are the most commonly used tropes in these types of stories?
Drama is #1. Second most common is definitely contestants breaking the rules. What should writers avoid when using this concept in their stories?
Just the normal set of cliches and stereotypes. What makes an interesting challenge in these types of stories?
To have a good balance of drama, romance, and possibly comedy without overdoing anything or dragging something along that doesnât need to be dragged out.
I would definitely love to see more of these types of stories. If anyone wanted to write a story involving reality TV shows, drama and comedy are your best bets, even if it is a dating reality show.
1. Do you enjoy reading and playing reality tv show stories?
Some of them are alright. Depends on the set up tbh.
2. Do you think the concept is overused?
Uhh, I donât think itâs too overused yet but there is a growing trend I can see and I think certain reality show formats are used a bit more often than others, and those are the ones I will probably get sick of soon.
3. What do you think are the most commonly used tropes in these types of stories?
Having someone get voted off each week seems to be the most common thing. Itâs even been done in a few Episode Official stories too.
4. What should writers avoid when using this concept in their stories?
Plagiarism, lol.
5. What makes an interesting challenge in these types of stories?
Like for the contestants? Because when I read this, my mind immediately went to the authors and the challenge of coding âchoices that matterâ. Could you imagine the reader choosing who gets voted off each week for example? Yikes.
6a. Would you like to see more of these types of stories?
I wouldnât mind more, but Iâd like them to still have different takes on it so they donât get boring.
6b. If you were to play one, what kind of theme or genre do you want it to be based on?
Well, I think drama, romance and comedy all have a few by now. Would be nice to see some kind of horror one. Not sure how that would work though hahaha
Do you guys have any suggestions for reality tv show stories here on Episode? I am currently craving to read some and the only one I thoroughly enjoyed was Galactic Game.
