1. Do you actively participate in any religions?
Kinda… I’m half black half Indian so I’m very conflicted. My mom is Christian but my father is Hindu so I’m confused on what to believe in… I think at the end of the day, I more or less identify myself as Hindu, so I would say I’m Hindu. I believe in multiple Gods, but I still feel a part of me is a little Christian because I grew up with my Christian mother.
2. Do you feel your religion is represented a lot on Episode?
Not really. I have seen to occasional Christian MC, but never have I seen a Hindu MC. Please let me know if you have any stories featuring a Hindu MC!
3. Do you feel your religion is represented accurately on Episode?
Truthfully, I have no real problem with people using traditional saris on their non Hindu characters as long as they aren’t shaming them. I do have problems with stereotypes, however. I feel like Indian people in general on Episode are stereotyped as being scammers, liking yoga, being highly religious, or being creepy. Maybe a few Indians are like that, but when you get to know us, we’re very nice! (most of us)
4. Which religion(s) do you think should be represented more?
-Hinduism
-Judaism
-Christianity
-Buddhism
-Islam
-Sikhism
I feel like most MC’s are agnostic, or they believe in God but it isn’t the main focal point of the story. I really just want to read a good story representing religion accurately!
5. What do you think Episode can do to be more inclusive to different religions?
- Not use cultural assets as a prop. I don’t really see a huge problem with this, but I know a lot of people do, so I wish Episode would be more mindful of this.
- Incorporate a character’s religion more into a story, but not in a mocking way
That’s all! I’m kinda 50/50 on this, but I’m very religion-curious rn so I might change my opinions on this.
