I can’t speak for @Smarter, but speaking to people on Episode has changed the way I think about certain things! Like I used to be one of those people who thought that only black people should wear Afro-inspired hairstyles! I now think it’s more a matter of acknowledgement, History is all about borrowing from other cultures to create new beauty!
I just wish some people from both sides would meet half way.
Well, @Smarter has a point. It is never respectful to discuss about races or religions specifically as if they were a “thing” to discuss about in public.
I was providing an example of fanmails that limitied cc stories receive with poc as main characters. My point being that authors who do add diversity also receive backlash from readers who only want white characters which believe it or not is an actual thing in episode.
Sure, and listen…I’m really sorry if I came off as aggressive earlier or at any point. I usually do better about that, but I actually had a bitch fit right before I found this thread and I should have calmed down BEFORE starting to comment. LOL - but anyways, at least I’m calm now, amirite??? X’DDDD
X’DDD I know, I know >.>
@Zelda04 - PM me and I’ll get to it soon, like, I’m trying to keep up with this thread and I read slow as a fuckin’ turtle, so. I’m down to talk about it, but when I’m not talking to like 3 people LOLOL - <3
I think both sides are nonsense, to be honest. I’m going to complain all I want about diversity on Episode, but I’m not going to stop your story from existing! Some people on “my side” try to get stories taken down for not being diverse enough! I hate that! Like, I’ll call a writer out if I think their representation is bad, but none at all? People can’t win!
But the “other side” is so keen on freedom but some people from that side seem to care more about making sure they aren’t the silenced ones than actually promoting freedom. I mean, some people try to shut down discourse about/complaints about the lack of representation on Episode and then in the same breath say “it’s my freedom to represent what I want”! If that’s the case, you shouldn’t let a little criticism get in your way and you shouldn’t try to stop people from criticising, otherwise you’re a hypocrite. You know what I mean?
I mean, we can’t come and talk about a group of people here specifically. Not only about races and religions, but also about LGBT community. It can come off as disrespectful, because these kinds of things are quite sensitive and no one should treat about who and how they are as a “subject to discuss about” rather than actual people.
Some people here might feel uncomfortable with somebody opening a discussion about who they are.
I apologise too. I’m not gonna lie and say I wasn’t meant to come out as a bitch becauae I was. I was just pissed. I have nothing against you and I understand we say things when heated Haha
I appreciate your apology and your maturity
