Discussion: Sick of authors using excuses not to include diversity

Great point. You’re totally correct.

I think subjects should be discussed. Especially if they are sensitive. I mean that’s how we learn :woman_shrugging:

I am discussing these things here for a while, and I kinda changed my opinion on some certain related subjects

But they’re not subjects, they’re people. Why discuss people like they’re topics?

Yes, I never argued this point. I was referring to people being told to add any variety of diversity to their stories, whether they already contain it or not. I’ve seen people on instagram complaining that MC’s aren’t gay for instance, and telling the authors to make them gay, that to me is being forced for example.
Nobody should write what they don’t want, that was all I was saying regarding ALL diversity.

Yup, a great Saturday.

Religion/race/ etc are not people. We can discuss groups and communities. If someone would try to discuss someone specific, like a person, yeah. Then I have a problem with this.

There’s people apart of those things though. :joy:

Yeah, I completely understand what you mean! I’d hope that I don’t seem that way, because I want to see the complaints and hear what everyone has to say, even if I don’t like what they’re saying, beyond disagreeing, ya know? I wanna see everything!! For real… >.>

I think that both “sides” also villify the other “side” a little too much. Like, I don’t think either “side” is 100% wrong or right. I don’t even think any individual is 100% wrong or right. I agree and disagree with many little points that everyone makes shrugs Either way, it always makes for fun discussion (when we can even do that >.>) LOL

You even said it yourself. Sksksk

I didn’t say it’s done to make people happy. If you continue to read it, you will see that it is referring to people finding something still to complain about.
and AGAIN I am not against adding diversity, so you don’t need to tell me what I should do and why.

People who are a part of those groups.

Okay, whatever. I wouldn’t be offended by people discussing my nationality/race/sexuality. I would be interested. Maybe interested to make clarification. But not offended. Fear to offend someone is just…meh

You don’t even understand my point. When it comes to religions, races, LGBTQ community and these kinds, it is never respectful, whether it is your intention or not.
Some people here can say “these people are good” and more, and then say dirty things about them - whether it is done behind their back or not.
So, you say that they’re a “subject” you can discuss about - on what basic?

Russian? …COMMIE!!! LOL

Hmm, you both make good points.

I sorta agree. It matters how they discussed it though but we shouldn’t treat people’s sexuality, race, disability, etc. as a discussion. Maybe religion though but idk.
