Yeah.
Oh…tht sucked i thought itd take place in korea
To write a story with a Korean character as one of the protagonists.
A Trans shelf would be a great idea though. I know one story that has one but I forgot the name…
Its fine no worries sorry n.n
Wasnt attackin u just see stuff like tht a lot
I have a trans character in my story.
Do it
I know enough about Korea and its history. Maybe make it focus on their strict beauty standards and how it affects women/young girls.
For sure! I think lots of people (myself included) just sort of use ‘representation’ as a generic term when it really should all be different depending on WHAT is being represented (race, sexuality, gender etc.) Thanks for pointing it out though, I probably wouldn’t have even realized I was doing it otherwise;;
Nice
U should do it could be fun and inspiring
Ur welcome? ha
After I finish 2 of my stories.
This I can agree with it’s not fair to have predominantly white casts I totally get that. And I see that the original poster have changed the wording slightly to something that I can now agree with. How it was written the first time around and how it was being disscused I assumed people were saying it’s offensive to have (any) white characters at all. But as the wording has now changed I can actually agree.
I mean I thought it was common sense
To be honest not originally I’m sorry if I’ve taken it out of context but Originally did this that the way you worded it meant having any white characters at all was insulting. I apologise in the fact I mistakenly thought that this is what you meant.
I still think that people in this community should also be more “gracious?” when it comes to these shelves. Just look at all the comments in the post on Instagram, they’re still recommending stories with only white characters by certain authors. These type of stories will probably end up getting featured and that’s unfair to stories that actually have Asian characters in their stories.
I wish they could feature diverse authors who write diverse stories.

I mentioned my thoughts on this a few times before. Ugh, I feel very strongly about this. It’s always the story line that matters the most. Always. Just because an author is something but there story doesn’t contain it doesn’t equal getting on a shelf, in my opinion. People go on Episode to read stories. Like come one, this a story telling platform where some people remain anonymous, so u don’t always know. I was just telling @amberose the other day about a shelf about pets
If you have a pet, your story can end up on a shelf but your story doesn’t need to have any pets. Like what…?
Example of the Arab shelf:
What I’m fine with:
- Arabs writing stories that contain the culture
- Non-Arabs who spend a lot of time and research into writing about the culture
What I’m not fine with: - Arabs writing stories not about the culture at all.
Yes I get it, it’s to project the voice, but the voice comes from the story. The author gives life to the story but the messages and voices people are seeing come from the story, not the author.
Thank you for reading
I agree, but people aren’t going to stop being silly and will continue ignoring requirements like they do with every other shelf recommendation (hidden gem shelf? Let’s recommend a TS story with 4.6 million and a half point three reads a bunch of times!). That’s where Episode is more accountable for the stories they choose because they’re the ones who control what goes on the shelves. They have been improving a little in giving themselves more time to sift through story recommendations- at least they started earlier than usual with the Asian/Pacific Islander shelf, so hopefully that extra time gives them more time to get together a good list of representative stories.
