1. What was your first story about?
Oof. It was about this outcast high school girl who thought all her friends were out to get her when really they just were just trying to live their own lives. She calls them into the school counselor, where she apologizes for everything she’s done (having a weird crush on one of them, choking one, etc.). Then you see her backstory and why she acts how she does. It was really supposed to be a comedy, but it ended up being… rather depressing.
I did publish it, and I haven’t archived it, but… I might.
2. What inspired you to start writing it?
I’ve switched schools a lot, but something I’ve seen at every school is how mean every kid is to a girl with Asperger’s. I’m talking popular kids, unpopular kids, everyone. And the thing is, no one was every incredibly mean to a boy on the autistic spectrum. I knew a specific girl who did a lot of mean things and was looking for redemption with her friends, but they couldn’t forgive her. I just felt like she deserved some credit.
3. Did you read the tutorial guides and guidelines before you started writing it?
I probably didn’t even know they existed.
3.a) If so, did they change your story ideas or influence you to change your plot?
Now that I have read the guidelines, I know what not to do… but none of my stories’ plots require adjustments based of guidelines. The only thing I ever need to do is bleep out expletives.
4. How far have you come since then?
Well, I’ve published two more stories and entered a contest. As far as reads go, none of my stories have reached above 100. I’ve become much better at coding, seeing that my first story was in spotlight and still was rough, and now I code crowd scenes and use, like, 70 overlays in one scene. I think the biggest thing, though, is my involvement in the community. Everyone here is so nice.
