are you asking about the cost of gem choices in user stories? I believe this depends upon how many reads the story has? Correct me if I’m wrong lol
If you get featured on shelf I think they give you a few gems, is that what you mean?

What episode provides gems because none of the episodes I’ve played gave me any gems??
You can only earn gems of Episode featured stories, they have a little blue E on the top left corner of the cover
