I have no problem naming the others characters, but the main characters i find it very hard.
I’m staring at my monitor for minutes now and I don’t know how to name the MCs of the new story I have in my mind to write.

I normally just look up names on google like “fantasy names for girls” or “unique names for boys” then I just get a lot of baby name sites. Or you can use character name generators, those are really helpful and you can find some really unique and memorable names there:)

i don’t name any of my MCs for my stories on episode because i like to let readers pick their own name!
however, in my non-episode-related projects, i always keep a list of names i like and use a random name for my “working name”. as i write and develop the mc, i’ll adapt their name to change according to their characterization and arcs!

Back when I used to write normal stories on other apps/websites, I found it really easy! Literally I’d look on nameberry for a few minutes and just instantly find a name that spoke to me
But for one of my Episode unpublished stories, I was planning on having 5 playable characters for a “survival horror” kinda story and literally I still haven’t found names I actually like for any of them. And I began the character writing process back in December, but had the story planned out for a year before that. So until I pick back up with that story, I use numbers to refer to them so I can still map stuff out without having to use the names.
For another Episode story that’s been in the back of my mind for a while, I’m making it more interactive with the reader (letting them customize the mc, pick out her name, etc) so I’m not super worried about it lol.

It depends, if I like a name then I will go with it but if not then I will usually google or something like that.

I have a mini-vault of names in my head that I like, and sometimes I find it helpful when I have a prompt; for example, does the name have any special significance? In my story, I wanted my MC to have a unique nickname and I also wanted it to be a nod to the title (Not Another Cinderella), so I settled on Eleanor (and Nell for short, because I was inspired by the character from the TV series Haunting of Hill House, who goes by Nell.)

Often times I look at my Mc and decide her personality
Are they calm kind? Maybe look up name meaning water
are they energetic fun outgoing? Maybe look up a name meaning sun
This way you can give hints to their personality into their name
