Duplicating characters (HELP!)

So I am trying to duplicate my character but it keeps showing two of the characters and i tried doing @DUPLICATE becomes CELINE
&remove CELINE

But it wont work, I want the duplicate to be there without it being obvious!

The character you want to duplicate has to be in the scene somewhere. You can move them off screen and have the copy and the mc change before the transition.

INT, BACKGROUNDNAME- DAY
&COPY -0.678 1280 in zone 3 (this is a random number I made up)
&MC stands back right
@COPY becomes MC
#you can add the codes here to change the copies look
@transition fade in

Or you can offer CC again and add the code after the CC. @COPY becomes MC - But, the copy still has to be in the script somewhere.

I hope all this makes sense :sweat_smile:

Wait let me send you my script cause i’m sorta confused

Cause since I did a customization template dara told me to do it afterwards the template but it keeps showing two people but like i don’t want to make it look like the character switched spots at all or anything

Put the copy character off the screen that way she won’t show when you duplicate her. Once you have the copy duplicated into the MC she will stay like that until you revert her details back to normal.

So lets start from the beginning so, lets say I wanna duplicate my character I place them offscreen and when I want celine to leave and go to wherever shes going I use her to go out, and then after that I start using the duplicate?

I think using the code one time will keep the duplicate looking like Celine. Only time you would need to use the duplicate is if you want to change their look, for instance, a flashback scene or if you want the display name to be empty, or even if you want to have both the duplicate and Celine in the scene together.

oh okay and how do i revert the character to go back to normal? sorry if im asking so many questions but i cant seem to understand the “putting the character back to normal” part

You wouldn’t need to put the duplicate back to normal since it’s a duplicate. But, you would code it like,

@DUPLICATE changes hair into Hair Style
@DUPLICATE changes bodyColor into Body Color

Now im confused again thats the thing it keeps playing with my mind!! the part where i put them back to normal and change everything, wouldnt that change the characters reg customization to celine?

Like lets say i customized them and all and i want them to go back to normal, how would i put them back to the way the reader customized the character

You wouldn’t have to. When you duplicate the copy character they become Celine. You just have to change the display name to whatever the readers chose.

You would just use Celine script name in your script when you don’t need to use the copy character.
