Okay for starters I was born premature, I have asthma and reconstructed airways, Skin graphs, A previous trachea scar and some strand of dwarfism? No clue- Regardless I’m 18 years old probably 5 feet now and weigh 138 pounds.
I suffer from bipolar disorder, social anxiety, stress and major depressive disorder.
As a child the doctors suggested I get on growth hormones since I have problems with my pituitary gland due to prematurity. I was on growth hormones for awhile but after I got off of them my feet began to swell and they’ve been like that ever since.
In full honesty I don’t drink water AT ALL I’m slowly trying to get better on it. I don’t exercise and I’m always in the house so I’m never active or doing anything for that matter. (Yay depression.)
When I drink water it goes down but I can never get my feet to go down fully to how their normally supposed to be and I’m confused. As I child my mother took me to various doctors and they didn’t know what to do. I’m going back once more soon but if anyone has ANY idea on what could be causing this or ways I can fully get the swelling down would be great.
Wow! I was premature too. 16 weeks early to be exact. I feel kind of strange when I hear people like me have these problems, but I guess I have some of them too. I think I’m similar to you actually. I would really like to help you.
I’m no life coach or anything but I think you should drink water. What do you mean with the feet thing and the swelling? I don’t drink a lot of water but I still drink water. I don’t exercise either that much. I don’t even go to sport at school, I just stay inside. I go canoeing sometimes though. Maybe we could help each other on that .
I suffer from social anxiety too. People think that using a stepladder method works, and don’t get me wrong it does at times, but I used to have Selective Mutism and what helped me was moving/going somewhere else for while and then coming back and I came back talking. (Selective Mutism is where a person doesn’t talk in certain situations). I feel like I’m being WAY to personal about myself but I hope this has helped.
Yess you get it! It’s extremely hard it comes with so many issues. Basically growth hormones activates your body to grow the pituitary gland controls like most if not all of your hormones and I have issues with mine.
Basically edema is water retention typically in the feet/ankles but it can be in other places too ever since my mother took me off of the growth hormone shots as a child my feet had swollen and haven’t went down since unless I drink water.
They only hurt if I don’t drink water whenever I walk on them I can feel my weight pressing down and I’m obviously overweight. It’s difficult dealing with that and depression.
I’m not familiar with a lot of medical stuff (unless it’s for EMT/EMS lol) but a friend’s mom has similar problems with her feet swelling, except her doctors said it was because of her salt intake. She’s lowered it since then and wears compression socks. So unless she eats something extremely high in salt, her feet generally stay un-swelled
I’m not sure if it’ll work or not, but it wouldn’t hurt to try !
It happens to me sometimes too when I work long hours because I’m on the bigger side, but I usually ice them and they go down
