For some time now, I‘ve rejoined the Episode Community and I was wondering about something:
Back then in 2018 it was extremely easy to set a foot on the Episode Community and to connect with new people, but I feel as if now it is way harder.
Have a lot of people left the community or is it just my lack of sociability that it has become harder?
I would just like to discuss whether some of you guys also feel as if there‘s less interaction than there used to be or whether it is just an issue I‘m encountering right now
Personally I feel like its the toxicity of this community that drove people to the point where they’d rather leave, and I mean I don’t blame them. It can be mentally draining, but I just find it quite upsetting as you’d expect Episode to be your escape place with reading, creating stories, art, connecting and interacting with everyone. In comparison to the previous years, the community doesn’t feel the same anymore, but that doesn’t mean it’s gone for the worst! it’s still a great place and I hope it’ll remain that way <3
Yeah, I get that. But I mean: If you consider the fact that people were having so much quarantine and lockdowns: Shouldn‘t that have helped the community to grow?
Hm, not sure depending on how the community situation/condition is with all the lockdowns and quarantine. People have lost loved ones, their trying to bring their mental health first, taking a lot of breaks to settle themselves, or just don’t want to be on the forums anymore with a lot of things that happened before Covid started.
But, we do have some new writers in the community, starting out, getting help, making new friends. So yeah, it is growing, slowly.
I only realy became active in the community around august so I can’t say much about previous years, but there are days or even maybe weeks where the forums and instagram are less active. One of the possible reasons for this is because many big authors update only on fridays every week or two, so people feel like there’s nothing to talk about. And another reason could possibly be all the updates and changes happening to the episode app. For example, removing the fanmail option for android users meaning that some readers couldn’t be as active, and more recently messing with gem choices, making readers less interested in some community stories, and even making them deleting the app. Accept from that I think the game is just getting old I guess, like some things do, and members of the community are just losing interest. (Sorry for a bit of a paragraph btw)
