Episode is Updating Our Content Guidelines

Yeah, I discussed it with my mother and she said it was a situation that varies as well. If they do include stepfamily relations to be incest I think it would be seen mostly in a legality sense.

I’m not sure, it’s one of those topics that needs to be put in direct and clearer words by Episode themselves.

For sure. I know some people are really weirded out by step-sibling relationships, and that’s 100% valid. But I’m also hesitant to label another person’s relationship as incest if they are in a legal, consenting relationship with someone outside their family’s gene pool. We aren’t technically talking about blood “relations,” so imposing one definition of what step-family means onto everyone isn’t going to be a one-size-fits-all scenario. Some people don’t even KNOW the step-whomevers their parents marry, depending on what their family situation is. So I think this is one situation where I’m especially wary of assuming what Episode means before they clarify.

Maybe it’s because I’ve been playing other apps for longer than Episode that I find nothing wrong with the updated guidelines. The only differences now come to not exaggerate on swearing and adding choices or content before sexy scenes that imply that both characters agreed on having that moment. Other apps always give the power to the reader to decide how to respond to romantic gestures and the reader is responsible for what comes next. Now, Episode isn’t even asking for people to code choices. If you don’t want this specific work, add content that isn’t “oooh she is saying no now but I’ll keep on teasing her until I get what I want”. Some people think that this sort of game is sexy and romantic but it’s not. Apart from that, sexy moments are so well written by what you leave out. There’s no need to turn an Episode story into 50 shades of whatever. Episode is a big company that has kids and teens as their audience. Don’t teach your readers that consent is a joke and don’t exaggerate while showing steamy moments and your stories will be fine. It’s really important that the company is taking these things seriously, finally starting by analyzing their own stories.

I agree. But be careful because mentioning storytelling apps in competition with Episode can get you suspended from the forum, so you may want to edit the post and refer to the app in a more generalized way. “A certain other app…” or something to that effect.

Thank you!

for that Episode app needs to be +17 , cause this is no place for kids , or just make special section for them , i’m not asking for another app because i know it’s a lot of work and time i’m just saying that Episode should give the reader the choice of reading the story he wants , or like in every mature sceen the authors can give the reader the choice of skipping the sceen or if he want’s to read it , and yes it’s a lot of work and i know it because i’m an author too , but it’s better than nothing

A cute romance is always ok but when the writer gets horny and for wtv reason adds her thoughts to her story, then it’s a disaster, at my opinion the story gets really disturbing. If they make episode 16+ i am leaving, episode is a visual app and that will make it worse that wattpad for readers that dont like that stuff.

What examples are you thinking of?

I’m for allowing more adult features, but I don’t know if a new app is the right answer. People on here could copy their script, but they’d have to do their characters and characters outfits all over again which would take forever. Also, people like me, don’t have any more room on their devices and don’t want to delete this app for the sake of reading new stories.
Would it be possible to make some stories unable to read without parental access? Maybe typing in your i-password if it can be done without endangering security. My daughter can not access certain features of my device because of parental lock.

From what I read on the internet step sibling can marry due to the fact at they are not blood related and not closely related by blood. So for example a person can’t marry their 1st cousin due to the fact that they share a blood relative.
The only state in the US that prohibits step-sibling marriage is Virginia.

I know I’m treading into venting territory here, but my god… the flood of comments on recent Episode IG posts show why the community at large can’t be trusted to handle things respectfully. And if they can’t do that much, are they really ready to be writing mature content and themes? Things that need far more care than writing a single comment or email professionally?

The guideline enforcement needed to happen sooner if anything.

I really appreciate what Episode has done for us. If you look at when they first started to now, a lot has changed. They give us about everything we ask for. Or at least they try. I agree with these new rules a lot, actually! Most of the time its a bunch of teens looking for some inappropriate stories. And it shows cause I guarantee if you ask one hundred 13 yr olds if they know what Episode is, and there will be at the very least one person who says it’s inappropriate, so I don’t blame them for wanting to change this. They are very supportive of the LBGT community Which might be biased cause im gay as heck , and they are just making this more teenage friendly which again my 16 year old biased self may just be biased, I wouldn’t say I am particularly happy with these rules, (cause I do feel like most kids over the age of 13 know what sex, guns, etc is) but I don’t oppose it. I don’t know, this may just be all a bunch of shit but I hope someone else feels the same way. :joy:

I would say, “this is ironic coming from people preaching for 13 year old/13+ app” but some of the adults are going crazy as well. I don’t like the whole make an app 18+. It’s illogical and episode loses majority of users. Could you imagine the updates they’d have to program for both apps and art? Or if it just turned into one big porn app. (Assuming incredibly loose guidelines).

People are just throwing ideas in the mist of the heat, but I still disagree because it’s obvious that some of these rules needed tweaking. It basically looked like a 10+ app guideline, but seeing the same people post is ridiculous.

They were so disrespectful that they went to a community authors successfully featured story and overran comments of her success. Bad time to post though.

Now people can stop bugging out.

To sum up the last photo. If you don’t like the new guidelines and you can’t write a decent story without writing sex, then pack your ish up and leave. ⇢ :door: :wave:t4:

Then they have two options change the guidelines or create a new app

Just wait, someone going to start complaining about the background they used and how they don’t like the font Episode used. People will always find something to complain about.

The best thing is too adjust not change the guidelines
It shouldn’t be full blown Wattpad (if they are looking for individuality it’s not by force for 2 apps to be the same) this second app thing can be done within the app with proper planning
