I was just wondering if I would I be able to say ‘that’s what she said’ since we aren’t allowing any ‘sexually explicit phrases’ and no guns in the intro??? What if they’re just holding a gun and not actually using it. Because I just made this cover right before the new guidelines. Would it be possible if I could still use it🙁
I think the no guns rule is pretty strict.
As for the phrase I think you’d be okay. I mean it’s sexual in nature to those of us who know but vague enough I think it’d be safe?
Definitely something to ask the review team though!
Exactly, and I really don’t understand how they don’t see it. Apparently everything we ask “depends on the context” and “may or may not break the guidelines.”
Don’t get me wrong, I still fully support the new guidelines, I just need clarification on a few things in order to be able to follow them.
I had a mystery story idea for @amberose but she doesn’t want to write it lol, so I will share it here in case anyone is interested:
Summary
Description: You are an Episode author working on your new story, but what happens when you meet the mysterious revised guidelines?
Find out what you are allowed and not allowed to write about!
Some title ideas:
The Secret of the guidelines
Dangerous Temptations
You drive me insane
Asterisks and Obelix
Clueless: Guidelines out
The deadline
Livin’ on the Edge
It’s just 3 questions
Brilliant story, 100/10
Amber passing up a mystery story idea that can start a trend or a scandal? OH, the horror ![]()
Aaliyah is react_sit_armscrossed_surprised_mild
Those ideas are brilliant, Annie.
She’s passing because she wouldn’t know how to finish it. Since the MC would never get a reply
I love that, but I love a good “open ending.”
Nice story titles!!

Now I gave them some sentences as examples, the most harmless one was ‘Go to hell’ and then it got extremer and extremer, but they still said, that they can’t give me an answer since it depends on the context. But under which context would ‘fuck you’ work?
Well my cover with a knife got approved today so i guess knives are allowed
As of now, I believe knives would be fine and for blood it depends on what they consider too much.
I genuinely believe the “no guns on covers” rule is less about weaponry on covers and more related to mass shootings in the United States where Episode is located. I think this is why they namedrop guns specifically and don’t mention other potential weapons in the same section.
I’m really glad you shared these
Maybe if it was humorous vs rude? For example I sometimes say F-you to my friends just joking/being sarcastic (and they know I’m joking).
I think saying a phrase like this in a harmless way is a lot different than say: saying f-you to someone because you’re being derogatory.
Ex: “F-you for not sleeping with me” sounds a lot worse than “f-you haha, jk, you know I love ya!”
Hehe thx a heap xx
Though the Support Desk situation leaves much to be desired, kinda looks like that Episode has been doing its part on the Official stories.
A certain bra-stealing story has some stuff edited to fit with nudity and consent guidelines, so if that can be made (slightly) better in terms of guidelines, anything is possible
Like what? I don’t agree with censoring swearing or no guns on covers, but how does it restrict creativity?
I support you 100%
I literally sent in a ticket and they copied and pasted the guidelines for me. The lady told me to come here and ask as if that’s not what’ve all been doing and yet still not getting a proper answer.
I wish Episode would just answer us and save themselves the need of having to go through many stories
I know i’m kind of late on this topic lol i took a break for about a month and then came back to this.In my opinion I just feel as though episode creates animations like the kissing animation and make out animation, also the gun animation and prop smoking animation etc (you get the point) but then tells us not to include it? It’s very hypocritical. Majority of the users on this app are 15+ I understand they want us to keep it PG13 but i’m just saying. Even some featured stories and Episode originals are pregnancy this and mafia that. It’s like which do they want? If they have to make this many changes on the app they should just make a kiddie version. All of these rules and regulations makes it hard for majority of the app users who are 15+ to enjoy it. We are the ones who spend our own money on the app making the creators of episode get paid. We’re not little kids who have to ask our parents permission first. I’m just saying
without us there wouldn’t be much left of Episode
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk
Well, it’s not like they say stop kissing, smoking and using guns in your story. You can let your characters kiss as much as you would like to. For the other two: you can do it, as long as it is not used too much. I would read the guidelines again, since a lot of misinformation is spread, which only fuels hate. While I agree that mafia storys aren’t too great, they did edit a lot of their stories already and you can still make stories about pregnancies. And by law, yes, you have to ask your parents for permission to do certain things on this app (although no one does it). Episode has to make some of these rules because the app is marked as PG 13, they do not decide what they can and cannot portray. A lot of these are like this per law. If you like more mature things, that’s fine, but Episode was always aimed at a younger audience. Most of these rules already were established and just now got a bit clearer, since people asked for episode to clear up the confusion and to be stricter with their rules
