This is true, however… compromises must be made sometimes. I am simply offering alternatives. If changing the word doesnt suit your fancy… you can always use:
F*@#
or
F**k
All I’m saying is… this shouldn’t make or break your story.

Lmao, yes! I hope they’re serious about making one geared toward an older audience!
‘you can look to ratings from organizations such as the MPAA or TV Parental Guidelines to help understand what may be considered excessive for similar audiences’
I love the creativity of “yall r gay” It just says so much.
13 year olds should not be allowed to even have that option. Yes, everyone is different, but you cant excuse unacceptable behaviors just because “everyone else does it” or “They have seen much worse.”
You cant justify bad behavior by highlighting something worse to make your bad behavior seem better.
This is all a part of using GOOD JUDGEMENT and being RESPONSIBLE.
haha!! on it!
(she says while sipping on her coffee)!
I was just saying this. I remember reading about swearing in PG-13 films. Depending on the network. You can say words like fuck a few times. You can say shit, hell, ass, damn, and etc more times than you can the F word. (Like I said depends on the network.)
It reminds me of the 5 limited curse word rule. Which, in my opinion, I like better since I had to force myself to get accustomed to.
By the way, I’m agreeing with you. I actually agree with all your points.
I wanted to point that out lol
Should watch titanic and see the PG rating on that, I would have thought it’ll be at least PG16
yessss I agree
I think there’s no use to try to explain certain things anymore. People are acting so aggressive. I’ve come across stories with orgies, human sacrifices, rapists becoming LIs, girls saying “no” and LIs forcing them to make out until they say “yes”… like, wth, they need to be strict if people keep pushing boundaries. It’s not about authors not being allowed to write mature themes, it’s learning how to write about them on a PG 13 app. Even 13 reasons why which is 16+ doesn’t show stuff that I’ve seen on Episode.
A lot of older films have endless swears in it because the time wasn’t so strict like they are now. I have watched plenty of films that are considered PG, but because of times today they seem like they should be rated TV-14.
I have a character in one of my stories names rose… now I have to make sure something dramatic happens just so someone can yell “ROOOOOOSSSSSE!”

Literally…like back in the 90s you should have seen our cartoons
I like the 5 curse limit better as well. In my view, it is much more intuitive than being able to say “f*ck” with no limitations.
I was thinking of the X-Men First Class movie where Wolverine famously says “Go fuck yourself.” The MPAA gave that movie a PG-13 rating. I wonder if Episode actually meant to give us more freedom by introducing asterisks over a curse limit, and it just kind of didn’t go over too well.
Rocko’s Modern Life
Courage The Cowardly Dog
Beetle juice
man… them were the days
Lol, I am a 90’s baby
Trust me, I seen it all. Which is why I don’t completely agree with the new guidelines on the profanity. They should have just left it alone.
Lol! Be careful you don’t get sued for copyright using the name rose
Before that, you have Daffy Duck literally being shot in the face.
