Error with background characters!

Hi! I’m wondering if there’s an easier way to place background characters than the way I do?

@NAME spot 1.238 154 -37 in zone 3 at layer 13 AND NAME faces right AND MADISON spot 1.316 257 -71 in zone 3 at layer 12 AND MADISON faces left …

And so on with all the other characters. I havn’t written the animation yet ( AND CHARACTER is animation )

Besides I also get an error saying that it’s not a valid directing command. It worked fine until I wrote: at layer #
Then the error popped up.

So what am I doing wrong? And how do I place the characters at different layers without getting an error?

I think for layering you have to say AND CHARACTER moves to layer #

It worked! Thank you so much for your help!
