FEATURE: Fading Overlay Opacity's From Directions

Hey, so!
I’m coding, and I wish there were more options with how to fade overlays in and out. Specifically I’d like to be able to use code like
@overlay NAME opacity 0
@overlay NAME opacity 1 in 3 fade left to right

So that the opacity would fade in from one side to the other. This would be helpful in creating overlaid lines on maps or (what I’m working on) making footprints appear in snow

Amazing idea!
Some directions/ideas;

@overlay NAME opacity 3 in 4 fade from Right to Left

@overlay NAME opacity 4 in 2 fade from Left to Right

@overlay NAME opacity 2 in 2 fade from Right to Center

(Many more like Left to Cemter would be nice as well!)

Love this! Support!
Though, I have to say, I’m not sure how it’d be coded. It sounds complex.

I don’t necessarily think so- it’s the same basic process as transitions. Right now we only have the option to fade in/out overlays, but we have
@transition shade up

and
@transition curtain out_top

It’d be using the same process, but with user-uploaded overlays :slight_smile:

I suppose so, but the transitions have infinite shapes that might make transferring that coding a bit more complicated. It’s hard for them to do things to user-uploaded objects!
