FEATURE: supporting small authors discussion

What do u mean by transparency

In saying that, some people have high reads because of one story but not loyal readers. As in, they’ll publish a new story but get hardly any reads on it.
It’s really hard to define “popular” lol.

That’s what our contest is doing. Btw we made it! Our contest PM’s the results. And we read the story and give feedback.

That’s amazing! Btw, I have updated the link to your contest in my main post!

With the entire chart or just his/her story score?

Hmm maybe awards based on the rubric categories? Dont remember what they are. I mean this is Episode Interactive so maybe an award for the Most “interactive story” where choices change the stories outcome and things like that?

I think they start reading two weeks into the contest. Liz said something about the number of reads the finalists had at that point.

That was at the date that the finalists were selected I believe? Since she wrote “At the time the team was reviewing finalists 8 of those stories had more than 1,000 reads and 7 had less than that.” and also “Yes, these stories have higher reads now, but its also important to remember that there is a bit of a delay, about 10 days, between when we get the finalists and when the shelf is released - during that time stories are still being promoted and are still earning reads.”

So when you consider that it’s roughly 3 weeks from the deadline to the shelf
it sounds like the finalists are chosen about a week and a half before the shelf is released. But to select the finalists they would need to read the stories before that.

That sounds like a nice idea! That would also mean that Episode would have to read all the stories, at least 1 chapter (although with choices you sometimes need to read more to see the ending)

What do you think of the transparency idea though? I don’t think I heard your full opinion on that, or it may have just got lost in these comments, so I am sorry if that’s the case. The thread is just updating very quickly today.

10 days to the shelf. So it depends on how long it takes to select finalists. I imagine that’s the quickest part. (seeing as all had high rubric scores, it would boil down to engagement/TOS violations)

Then I would like to specify: how, do you think, shall the results be announced? Publicly or by private email? And shall we get the results of all the entries or just ours?

@yazhin also started this transparency petition a while ago so that there were numbers to persuade Episode that this needs to be implemented. I guess since we all agree that we will all benefit from transparency then we can all work on that together and promote this idea.

If they really are reading all stories (which I would like to believe that they do), then I’d imagine they’d be spending the first week and a half doing that and choosing the finalists from there after looking at the retention :woman_shrugging:

Seriously both you and @brvnda please stop. If you guys have a problem with each other either take it up in pm or ignore each other.

That would make sense, but we need to make sure that’s indeed so and not vice versa!

I just wanted to be fair and to tell both sides to stop.

Brenda, Please understand I don’t even know who you are. I don’t have any reasons to hate you and I don’t. But please stop treating someone like they are invading you when in the first place it was you. I accepted (liked) several of your comments but that doesn’t mean I should everything. <3 Sorry for mistaking you.

-Have a great day.
