It would be fantastic if they added this feature, but someone has already suggested it here :

FEATURE: Adding Covers to the Art Catalog

I think once all covers are approved they should be added to the art catalog. A writer should be able to reuse old covers without having them approved all over again. It is an inefficient process and I think adding them to the art catalog after approval would make a lot more sense. Adding a “COVERS” tab in the art catalog would keep things organized and separate from other images. Please like if you support this so that it will get noticed by the administrators.
