I agree with you. Unfortunately, I think what @Annieways said (correct me if I’m misremembering) is right: while many people on the forums are very vocally tired of this kind of story, the majority of app users must be really into it. I think Episode does recognize the quality of community-created content. They’ve featured, for instance, stories without a focus on romance on their event shelves and as contest winners. What I don’t understand is why “Well our users like this pregnant by the bad boy crap” justifies never trying anything else. Maybe if they threw attention, time, and resources into a good fantasy/horror/whatever non-romance story the way they do for Positively Princess or Bloodlust or whatever the heck this is people would learn to appreciate more diverse stories. But of course the gem-awarding featured stories are going to get the most reads. They could publish a story that’s just three chapters of a dog eating peanut butter and if it awards gems, is required to read before accessing community stories, and is featured at the top of the app, it’s going to have more reads than many superior community stories.

I understand we are stuck with romance and cliche but I mean at least make it look good and look like efforts have been put into it. with new hair or clothes and reasonable prices, but when they get that lazy and dare to charge 40 gems im just baffled

If you want to make crappy stories episode, at least realise all the outfits, animations, backgrounds and hair! There’s authors out there who could make AMAZING- BREATH TAKING! Stories with the hidden assets

Maybe they are worried no one will read their stories if community writers had access to the same assets.

Featured stories do that a lot too. It’s super weird. This story doesn’t even have a CC, which might be the thing that surprises me most.

yeah its so annoying the kiss list,love life,a little more me , positively princess all did that, the mc only had basic hairstyles but every side character looked better than the mc

My hope is that whatever the hell “Love Lives” is, it’s a totally separate app where Unexpectedly Expecting and its ilk will live, and Episode will be entirely for community content, still with moderated contests and event shelves, but without the “featured stories” under contract that run for like 8 episodes and terminate mid-arc. They will release all the hidden assets, and any further feature updates will be for actually new stuff, not old stuff they’ve been hiding for 14 months.
That is my dream, and every Thursday until it happens is one big Unexpectedly Expecting-sized disappointment.

I feel like their form of advertising is shit and makes everyone who doesn’t know the community think that we’re a laughing stock that love cliché romance, sex, (“pee in her mouth”), etc. It’s quite embarrassing to a lot of the hardworking episode writers out there.
I think they would earn a lot more respect if they advertised some of the amazing work that is made here.
