I’ve been planning out my first story for a while now, and I’ve really been trying to do it well. I want to create three-dimensional characters that have clear personalities and ways they would handle situations that are individual to them, yet I also want to add many important choices and ways the reader can be engaged with the story. How do I find this balance? I don’t really want to add the reader as a character in the story, but it seems that’s the only clear option?
