Well, thank you. This thread has really helped in developing her character too. Very instrumental
That makes me so happy to hear! ^^ <3 <3 <3
I’m glad.
What makes your character most vulnerable? Tell about a time they couldn’t hide, and their vulnerability was exposed.
She isn’t obviously the bravest badass type character you would expect to see in stories like this. She gets frightened fairly easily and she doesn’t have all the answers. She can come across as this weak little child. The reason being is, she’s only a teenager. She hasn’t got life figured out. So although she is being super brave and courageous to take on this task of basically saving her friends and family, she isn’t going to have all the answers. She gets frightened, she makes bad choices, she can be naive and this is fine because who the hell knew what they were doing when they were a teenager? No one would judge her for being like that however she does judge herself because she feels that this makes her unfit for the task at hand and makes her feel weak and ashamed of herself. It makes her vulnerable to manipulation and peer pressure and other things such as that because she is a teen! She hasn’t got her life figured out yet, but still, she is trying her hardest to save the human race. Which is incredible! She is braver than she knows and doesn’t realize it because she believes she shouldn’t be scared and she feels as if she is going to let everyone down.

Raziel
I could talk about so many things right now. I’ve put this boy through hell.
His lack of a solid self-concept is at the root of his vulnerability, and has led to a lack of self-worth and a major fear of abandonment. He’s an open book and therefore doesn’t hide it, which has led to dangerous situations before, and also led to behaviors he isn’t proud of in hindsight. At one point, he was in a year-long relationship with someone who turned out to be abusive, at first only psychologically, but it escalated over time. His reluctance to leave him even after that didn’t go unnoticed by his “friend” at the time, who would help him leave the relationship so that he would feel indebted to her and be that much easier to manipulate into letting her get away with just about anything. Unfortunately, she was right about this, and he wouldn’t uncover the type of person she really was until after her death
(I’m keeping Raziel’s information in the same dropdown as his picture, since it contains mentions of abuse, which could be triggering to some. I’ve been considerably nicer to Serena, so her section is safe to read.)
Serena
Although she tries to pretend she’s calm and put-together 100% of the time, she has no clue what she’s doing in any given situation. Although she is genuinely intelligent, the successes she’s had are due mostly to her being a master bullshitter, despite being a perpetually terrified, awkward mess at heart. Unfortunately, she failed to hide this vulnerability at her first grad school interview, which led to a solid half hour of awkward rambling and much more time spent in self-reflective embarrassment. Needless to say, that wasn’t the university she ended up going to.

What is something that your character(s) wants to care about; something your character tries to care about, but can’t bring themsel(f)(ves) to care about?
Her father…
WARNING SPOILERS!!!
Her father is always away from home working, apparently. (I won’t spoil too much) however, she hears one night a bang. She comes downstairs to investigate to find her father sneaking out with a bag full of his possessions. She asks where he is going and eventually she finds out that he is abandoning her and her family to go onto the space ship that will supposedly save the human population. Though out the story she tries to find a way to forgive her father and tries to find a way to care about him. Whilst her sister and mother - angry of course - worry about him in space, She cannot find it in her heart to care about him. Even sometimes wishing he was in fact dead.
Fuck…I kinda don’t wanna read this.
Do you think I should change it? Is it too much? (I mean like let us ignore the rest of the story for a minute cause woooo lets not talk about that!) Do you think I shouldn’t add it in?
Nah, nah nah, you can leave it for others…I just don’t wanna read it since…I don’t want spoilers for your story X’DDD I really like yours. LOL
Oh my god! I thought you were talking about the blurred spoilers I thought you read them and was like uhhhhhhh this is too dark Izzy, calm down.
Oh!!! Nah, nah, nah!! I’m just not going to read it X’DDDDD Because…I don’t want spoils. LOL
Ok omg
What is something that your character wants to care about; something your character tries to care about, but can’t bring themself to care about?
Her mother. She loved her, until she disowned her for “marrying that demon”. One day, years after she was taken, she went to visit her family. This was about a week before that fatal Gathering. She and her mother had a huge argument in which Luna and Adelinde took their mother’s side. Ever since that day, she has hated her mother, and is even sometimes thankful that she killed her.
So this is one of the main supporting characters from my story that I will be publishing soon I hope I’m not too late to participate in the thread
Dean Le
Modern World
Super genius when it comes to computers, smartass, loyal friend, and not afraid to speak the truth.
Never to late to participate!! I’ll start tagging you for every question!
Pic
Default Hannah from OotG.
I made a new pic that I’m gonna post on insta but I share it here first coz I don’t like IG
Question 7
I’m not sure if this counts… I feel like I’m reaching tbh because as I’ve mentioned a million times here, Hannah’s my most underdeveloped character.
But I think the time her vulnerability was exposed was when she was cheated on, because it was also in the form of public humiliation (depending on choices though because she either saw it or heard about it from someone that did see it). She probably has trust issues now from that… Oh that’s good, I’ll write that down, might need to include it later lol
Question 8
Ummm, man, this question is hard.
I’ve been actually trying to slip in more Hannah comments that show how much she cares about women’s rights and having equality lately. Since she’s the “tom-boy” but also the girliest girl of the main squad, it’s kind of been fun to try and show how someone can both be what most people would consider opposites at the same time.
She’s also the one shutting down any form of slut-shaming in my story. And she was also the only one who cared about Jesse’s nudes being leaked, because she felt the exploitation was wrong and unjust. I guess there’s a lot she cares about. But it’s not a matter of her not being able to bring herself to, it’s that I don’t have enough time to show exactly how much she cares, so it’s quite brief and/or subtle
Oooo this looks fun
Hope it’s okay I try
Sooyoung Sakura
Modern World
Many look at her and see a very sweet and innocent girl. But there’s another side of her that is unexplored and vulnerable.
"Question 3
Sort of Spoiler
She had a nickname that her childhood best friend used to call her. Nobody knows that she had an old nickname. Friends only call her Sooyoung.
Sorry that I’ve been so slack at keeping up-to-date with this!
Andrew Danford (19 - The Regency period)
Question Three:
Andrew does not have a nickname. He is known as Mr Danford formally and goes by Andrew with his peers and family.
Question Four:
As a family and town tradition, though he believes it’s mainly for society and family status, he’s gone with his family to Sunday Mass.
Question Five:
Alcohol; a pint of ale, that counts as food, right? No, since becoming a married man, he has switched from alcohol to Aliana (his wife). He just can’t get enough of her, her watery soup, her stone-hard bread, or even her precious Turnip (his wife’s adopted cat).
Question Six:
As mentioned in question two, Andrew has always planned to open up his own brothel. He has been keeping his savings and the wedding money safe until he can convince Aliana (his wife) that opening a brothel is best for the two of them (and the girls of their town). That is why he wishes to do so, to make sure the lower class are looked after and have a safe working environment, even if that line of work is looked down on.
Question Seven:
Well, this pretty obvious, but will go into detail anyway. There are only two people who can make Andrew feel vulnerable; Aliana and his mother. This is because he has such strong feelings for them. Deep down he has always been a Mummy’s boy and cares about this mother, loving her to the moon and back. Aliana is reasonably new but there is something she’s done to him that, opened him up, and she makes him stronger and weaker at the same time.
Question Eight:
Nothing really, he’s pretty open and when he’s passionate about something or someone, everyone around him knows it.
Alexandria Egerton (16 - The Regency period)
Question Three:
Alexandria is known as Miss Egerton formally and only goes by Alexia with brother and very close friends.
Question Four:
Alexandria believes in God. She is an avid reader of books, the Bible being one of those books. Every week, she also attends their local town church with her family for Sunday Mass.
Question Five:
Marmalade; she’d eat it with breakfast, lunch, AND dinner if she could.
Question Six:
Alexandria’s goals and motives are rather simple, as she’s rather carefree. So long as wherever she ends up in her life, she will still have her books, be able to go outside and enjoy nature, and see her brother, she’ll be happy.
Question Seven:
People, this is an easy answer for Alexandria. She is a reasonably shy soul and doesn’t show her vibrant and bubbly side unless she knows them well. Around people she doesn’t know, she is only truly comfortable when she has her nose stuck in a book. This is how she overcomes her vulnerabilities, by escaping to another world through fiction. Even without a book though, running through a field or forest can often help in the same way.
Question Eight:
This is generally nothing, she’s pretty open. Not because she wants to be, but because she’s too young and innocent to know how to hide her emotions from people, so they can’t read her like one of her books.
Nathan Keller (42 - Present day)
Question Three:
Nathan’s nickname isn’t really a nickname, more the name everyone knows him by, which is Nate.
Question Four:
No, Nate is an atheist, plain and simple.
Question Five:
Before his mid-life crisis, he was really into Asian cuisine. He couldn’t get enough of it, especially cooking it when he had the time. He and Kinsey (his youngest, now almost 7) used to love having Daddy/daughter cooking days.
Question Six:
Nate’s is simple and always has been; his kids come first. To make sure Christian and Kinsey grow up well and have a good life.
Question Seven:
His two kids and actually Addilyn (his wife) can make him pretty vulnerable. He discovered this when he went into the Big Brother house. Whenever he opened up about them was when he found raw emotion, and be when that emotion could be manipulated by others and used against him. They’re his weak point, as well as being what makes him a stronger person too.
Question Eight:
Now that he’s back and no longer lazing on the couch and doing nothing with his life, his passion for things is pretty obvious to all. He has a fire back inside of him, a lot stronger than before and everyone can see it.
Dominic Wallace (44 - Present day)
Question Three:
Dominic hardly ever goes by his full name, he usually goes by Dom. This is because he has a form of audism that makes him almost childlike. So when his full name is used, he thinks he’s being scolded or it’s in a formal setting.
Question Four:
Every Sunday since he was a child, he has gone to church with his mother. For the past 19 years, his mother has been coming over to collect him for church.
Question Five:
When Dom is upset or feeling really hurt, he loves to eat. His goto food would be sweets, as the sugar calms him down, along with his nerves. His favourite sweets would be Tootsie rolls and Twizzlers.
Question Six:
Dom’s motive is more of a daily and weekly one. He only wants to get through each day’s (and week’s) routine, that his mother and he created for him, without any faults.
Question Seven:
Being in a different environment, in a state of change, and around people he doesn’t know, is what makes Dom vulnerable. Being out of his comfortable really makes Dom revert and brings out his autism more, his stutter, and his fears.
Question Eight:
Other people are who Dom wants to care about. When he gets to know them, there’s no problem, he does. However, when he doesn’t know the person (people), he has a lack of interest in them. Despite wanting to try to overcome this, get to know them and care about them/others, his fears are too strong.
@jdepisode, just in case you want to see more.
Of course! I’ll start tagging you in all the questions!
