so i look on youtube on ho to make a no backround on gimp and it said i had to click add alpha channel but it doesnt let me click it here look at this

That means it already has an alpha channel.

cuz when i touch the free select it doesnt cut

For the free select you have select a certain area. With every click of the mouse an anchor should be placed down. Try making a circle with it, then press delete on your keyboard. That area should disappear and the alpha layer underneath be seen.
