Yeah it makes sense, finding like minded people and trying to get attention to the issue at hand. But I don’t expect a lot of people suddenly opening their eyes because of a protest. Maybe some, but you’ll also get the attention of the opposites.

I was just thinking: Famous artists, politician’s or other people who a lot of others look up to. They might be able to change people’s mind a bit easier than us (random person on the street, interrupting people from getting to their destination.)

True, true. They have a much bigger influence than the others and could achieve much more. Those people are mostly those who don’t care though…

Warning, this gets slightly controversial and political In terms of problems that aren’t always talked about, I think the spread of misinformation is a kind of big one. We’re living in the information age and with internet accessibility rates growing higher and higher, more people are getting more access to lots and lots of information, and misinformation. No, I am not talking about “fake news” here. Whether you think the media is lying to you or not is your own thing. It’s beneficial that we contradict and question authority to an extent BUT if you take it too far it can just become damaging and misinformed, like the antivax movement and the climate change denying movement.
Somewhere I heard a quote along the lines of, “Why do people invent their own problems” (like, saying the earth is flat and distrusting NASA for no reason) and it stuck with me. To fix problems like pollution causing climate change, we’ll need to unite and trust people that are more educated than us.

I totally agree. Sadly there are soooo many people who say that’s not true even though it is. I sometimes feel like people don’t even use their brain sometimes and believe everything that’s on the internet/someone tells them is correct.

I’m so glad that this is a thread, or whatever you call it. I’m vegan, and I love everything about the ocean except the plastic in it. I cant believe our world is dying either air pollution, climate change or e.t.c. some people think that this is a laughing matter. heck, people in my school told me they love using plastic straws and think turtles should die. they think I eat grass because I’m vegan. being vegan is totally much more than that. expressing how much love you have towards animals. there is memes about plastic pollution and one day one of my teachers put on a video about changes in the environment and people were laughing. he was laughing about how this is ridiculous. and it really isn’t a laughing matter…
