Having gotos trouble

#1

I need help with the gotos…

NARRATOR (IOANNA)
How cliche.

    NARRATOR (IOANNA)
    Anyway,

label qanda2
NARRATOR (IOANNA)
Any questions?
choice
“Questions on the chapter.” {
label chapterqa1
NARRATOR (IOANNA)
Alright then.
choice
“I am confused with Levi’s behaviour. Please explain it to me.” {
NARRATOR (IOANNA)
(blah blah)
goto chapterqa1
} “I think you forgot to mention what powers Levi has.” {
NARRATOR (IOANNA)
(blah blah)
goto chapterqa1
}“What exactly hit Jade while training?”{
NARRATOR (IOANNA)
(blah blah)
goto chapterqa1
}“Who’s Victor?”{
NARRATOR (IOANNA)
(blah blah)
goto chapterqa1
}“Kai’s powers?”{
NARRATOR (IOANNA)
(blah blah)
goto chapterqa1
}“Main Menu”{
NARRATOR
Ok!
goto qanda2
}
} “Questions on the story.” {
(I’ll fill this later)
} “Questions on the author.”{
(I’ll fill this later)
} “Questions on the character contest.”{
(Will be filled later as well)
} “I’m done”{

}

so my problem is that there is an error saying that the label chapterqa1 does not exist.
What do I do?
Thanks for your time!

#2

It’s because label chapterqa1 is inside the brackets, and labels can’t be inside brackets.

You have to put the label outside of the choice.

#3

alright I’ll try

#4

Do you have any idea EXACTLY where I should put the label?

#5

It has to be outside of the brackets and choice, so you see how you have label qanda2 above the NARRATOR asking “any questions?” That goto label works because it isn’t inside the brackets. I can’t tell from the script where you want to direct your reader, but you may need to create another narration choice option separate from that label so you can direct your readers back to that label and then your chapter 1 label.

#6

I want to direct the reader at

NARRATOR (IOANNA)
Alright then.
choice
blah blah blah blah

#7

Can you help me with that pls?

#8

I’m putting it in the portal to see what’s going on, hold please! :slight_smile:

#9

Sorry for being impatient. I’m waiting.

#10

You’re fine, hon. No worries.

#11

Okay, this should work. You’re going to just have to fill in the rest, and use your gotos to go back to the label you want your readers directed to once you fill in the rest.

#12

It didn’t work…

#13

It worked for me when I put it in the portal, what issue are you experiencing?

#14

It only shows one question

#15

When you hit “questions on the chapter,” it should take you to all the questions you then have listed for the chapter 1. I coded it like that because in your original script, you made “questions on the chapter” a choice, so it would have to be its own separate choice outside of the list of questions you have for chapter 1 in order to take your readers to the menu of questions.

#16

Look, I got kind of confused with what you just said, so I will give you an example.
Have you read the story Haunted: Shroud? There is a Q&A at the end of the story. That’s how I want it to be like…

#17

I have not read that story, and while I think I have an idea of what you want it to look like, an example would be helpful!

#18

So what I want it to be like there will be some questions, like, "questions on the chapter’ and "questions on the other’ and other stuff, that will be the main menu.

now once you click one of the questions I want some other questions to appear depending on what the reader chose. If they have clicked “questions on the chapter” then I want some questions about this chapter ONLY to appear, same goes if they click “questions on the author”. So if they are done with one question that has appeared after clicking “questions on the chapter” it will bring the back to the questions about the chapter ONLY. The choice “Main Menu” will bring them back to th main menu.

#19

Create a main menu and then separate labels for each one:

label main_menu

    NARRATOR (IOANNA)
Anyway.
    NARRATOR (IOANNA)
Any questions?

choice
“Questions on the chapter.” {
goto chapterqa1
} “Questions on the story.” {
goto story_questions
} “Questions on the author.”{
goto author_questions
} “Questions on the character contest.”{
goto character_contest
} “I’m done”{
}

label chapterqa1
NARRATOR (IOANNA)
Alright then.
choice
“I am confused with Levi’s behaviour. Please explain it to me.” {
NARRATOR (IOANNA)
(blah blah)
goto chapterqa1
} “I think you forgot to mention what powers Levi has.” {
NARRATOR (IOANNA)
(blah blah)
goto chapterqa1
}“What exactly hit Jade while training?”{
NARRATOR (IOANNA)
(blah blah)
goto chapterqa1
}“Who’s Victor?”{
NARRATOR (IOANNA)
(blah blah)
goto chapterqa1
}“Kai’s powers?”{
NARRATOR (IOANNA)
(blah blah)
goto chapterqa1
}“Main Menu”{
goto main_menu
}

and so on…

I used it and I think it’s gonna work, but there’s a warning saying that the labels “story_questions” “author_questions” "character_contest"don’t exist
