Having trouble with this code

im having trouble with this code

in here i want the character to stop moving and and do a animation while talking also while she do the animation i want the background to stop looping

Do: @SUMMER stands screen center in zone 1

its just show the background only

You didn’t change the code… On LINE 3, change
@SUMMER stands at screen center in zone 1 to @SUMMER stands screen center in zone 1

I think it might be beneficial to watch Joseph Evans videos on his Episode Tutorials playlist and Dara Amarie’s website and more specifically her guides. They are great for beginner coders and people who have coding experience alike.

I have been coding since 2019 and I still forget how to do’s and re-check with these resources.

But to help clarify a couple things I think can improve your code at the moment:
1: Do as EccleSiaste_BookPage says and change your line 3 from “stands at screen center in zone 1” to “stands screen center in zone 1”.

  • Reason: because you can’t have at there. It will always be @ or &CHARACTER stands screen (direction:left, right, center, upscreen left, upscreen right etc.)

2: Another factor: If you set up a scene with no start zoom (be it a actual number zoom or simply resetting to full view), after you preview it - -just like when readers read it-- it stays zoomed to your last set zoom.

  • Meaning: if your last scene was zoomed in really close on someone’s face and your next scene doesn’t have a starting zoom, you will stay zoomed in that close until you specify a change.
  • A good habit to have is to add “&zoom reset” after your initial set up:
    EXT. BACKGROUND - DAY with OVERLAY1 at layer 0 with effect HARD RAIN
    &zoom reset
    &COLE stands screen center in zone 1
    @pause for 2
    &COLE walks to spot x y in zone z in 3 and zoom x y to 140% in 0
    @pause for 3
    @transition fade out black
  • note: I used x y in zone z and x y -numbers would be in these spots - I just didn’t make up the numbers.
    ^^^zoom reset: no matter what zoom is before or after this will reset it back to 0 0 to 100% -full screen view of background zone. You can change this if you have a spot that you need to be zoomed in - just set it up with the “&zoom reset” then preview, zoom where you need to be, then replace &zoom reset with &zoom on 135 200 to 139% in 0 or whatever your new zoom is.

Hope this helps you out a bit and expands a bit on what EccleSiaste said :slight_smile: Also @EccleSiaste_BookPage happy forum-versary :party_time:
