So, recently, Episode contacted me saying than I’m not allowed to add the lyrics of a song to my to my story. Can someone tell me what to do? I don’t want to delete the whole scene…
Well I think if you want to keep that scene, you should change parts of the lyrics, so that it still sounds good, but isn’t copied.
write your own song, or change some text. like say what the song say but in a diffrent way. there are many words there mean the same.
example
your the love of my life.
I love you more than life.
I want to see you out that door Baby bye bye bye
I was you to leave out of that door, just go go go.
I don’t think they should be doing that because my story’s also a musical love story and I have used the lyrics of many songs in my story but they didn’t say anything to me…maybe you should use (") before the starting and after the ending word…for example:
“Do you know what’s worth fighting for”
“When it’s not worth dying for”
maybe it hasent been reported as copyright yet. episode need to review your story before can tell you, that you did something wrong.
I don’t think so because I have seen many creators use lyrics of many songs in their stories
I am not manageing the rules, I just know and follow them. and I know copyright is a big deal, but I guess if its a problem, episode will contact you at some point,
and yes the rules are not really fair, I seen stories in top 100, get away with a lot, mean while I had to remove a scene where a charatcer explain a bad trauma they had,
I use song lyrics all the time and it has never been a problem for me
From what I know, is that you can put some lyrics from a (real) song, but not much/the whole song. And always make sure to credit the original singer/band, so if you use lyrics from for example Don’t Start Now by Dua Lipa, you can put in a reader message “Don’t Start Now- Dua Lipa”
yeah…I do the same thing too
To my knowledge, you’re only allowed to use 4 lines from the song in your script. At least that’s what they told me
