Help: choice limiting

Hi!

I need help with creating a multiple choice where the reader can choose from many options but they can choose up to 3 and when they are done, the game automatically proceeds, without letting the reader choose more than 3 options.

Example: You can only choose 3 letters, not more.

Hi! I believe what you’re trying to do is covered in this similar topic:

Make a character @LETTER. For each letter, gain 1 point. After each choice, they would go back to the original layout.

From what you’ve said the reader can choose up to 3 letters, but can they choose less than 3? If so just include a “I’m done!” button in the template.

I’ve copied over the template by @/zapcV to suit it to your story!

Summary

label start_game
if (LETTERS>3){
NARRATOR
You’ve selected all 3 letters.
goto end_game
}else{
NARRATOR
Choose a maximum of 3 letters.

choice “W”{
@LETTER+1

NARRATOR
Choose a maximum of three letters.

goto start_game
}“A”{
@LETTER+1

NARRATOR
Choose a maximum of 3 letters.

goto start_game
}"N”{
@LETTER+1

NARRATOR
Choose a maximum of 3 letters.

goto start_game
}
}

label end_game

However if you need to differentiate the letters, such as “you chose letters W, A and N, right?” you might have to use gains or something. I’m not too sure myself.

Edit: Consult this post as well to ensure reader can’t pick the same letter twice. Such as picking W three times
