Help! fade out characters?

OMGMMGGM help me! I’ve been trying to fade out my characters for like 5 hours. But its a little more difficult considering I’ve got more overlays then just the background one.
I literally have no idea what I’m doing can someone please help <3

Heres my script—

INT. ISLAND BEDROOM - DAY with BACKGROUND 7 at layer 2 with BACKGROUND 4 at layer 2 with PHOTO at layer 2

@overlay 6060285711155200_PHOTO shifts to 84 217
@overlay 6060285711155200_PHOTO scales to 0.410 0.410

@overlay 6060285711155200_BACKGROUND 4 shifts to 87 219
@overlay 6060285711155200_BACKGROUND 4 scales to 0.170 0.170

@LIAM spot 0.083 120 458 in zone 1 at layer 3 and LIAM faces left
@ISABELLA spot 0.077 104 459 in zone 1 at layer 3 and ISABELLA faces right
@YOUNG RILEY spot 0.071 115 460 in zone 1 at layer 3 and YOUNG RILEY faces left
@YOUNG ROXIE spot 0.071 109 459 in zone 1 at layer 3 and YOUNG ROXIE faces right
@ROXIE spot 0.925 259 135 in zone 1 at layer 3 and ROXIE faces left and ROXIE is idle_sad

@overlay BACKGROUND 7 opacity 0 in 0
&ISABELLA moves to layer 1 and LIAM moves to layer 1 and YOUNG RILEY moves to layer 3 and YOUNG ROXIE moves to layer 3
@overlay BACKGROUND 7 opacity 1 in 2

You need to move the character you want to fade to a lower layer than the background and the background to opacity 0.5 (or any opacity that is see through). But you can also read through this, it might help you more than my explanations:
