You could go with crying scene then flashback to the war scene Or Do the war scene then the crying scene. Either way, it would flow well.

If it’s for the trailer, I’d do the cry scene then flash to the war.
Movie trailers are always out of order of events. They’ll show emotional person then a flash of the action then continue with other details.
