Help needed! (Transgender related)

Hey! I’m writing a story about a nonbinary person (She/her pronouns) In the the story, she has a deadname. Would it be transphobic if someone told people online her deadname? Only to inform people what she used to go by of course! Please let me now! I can easiley take this out if it is offensive!

Hi so I’m trans (mtf) and before I was out at school so many people dead named me. I mean they didn’t know so like I kinda understood but it still made me feel uncomfortable about hearing that name associated with me.

But also I love that you’re writing a story about other identities in the lgbt+ community!!

So don’t put it in then? Thank you so much for the feedback!

If you do put it in, just make sure it’s addressed immediately and put a warning that it will happen. It’s not as much a trigger for me but it can be.

Yes! I’m nonbinary and recently came out. My dead name was very feminine and I chose to be called Wesley going forward which I think is waayyy more gender neutral. If someone called me my dead name id definitely be hurt and feel betrayed.

Yes I should take it out/ it is transphobic?

Yeah. Any type of deadnameing can be transphobic. Definitely open to answer any questions you have if you want to pm me!
