heres my script, for some reason my overlay isnt showing up in zone 2

EXT. LUXE CAFE - DAY with OPEN SIGN in zone 2
set format cinematic
&zoom reset
&cut to zone 2
@overlay OPEN SIGN opacity 1 in 0
&overlay OPEN SIGN shifts to 111 255
@overlay OPEN SIGN scales to 0.583 0.583
@transition fade in black 3.5
@pause for 1.5
@pause for 500
@transition fade out black 3.0
music off

i wouldn’t put open sign in zone 2 at the top with the background. have you tried:

EXT. LUXE CAFE - DAY
set format cinematic
@ zoom reset and cut to zone 2
@ overlay OPEN SIGN create and overlay OPEN SIGN shifts to 111 255 and overlay OPEN SIGN scales to 0.583 0.583 and overlay OPEN SIGN opacity 1 in 0
@ transition fade in black 3.5

You don’t need to do this, but I find it easier to understand and find mistakes this way:

EXT. LUXE CAFE - DAY

#This just keeps all your overlay script together so you can see exactly what’s happening for each part
&overlay OPEN SIGN create
&overlay OPEN SIGN opacity 100%
#&overlay OPEN SIGN moves to layer #
&overlay OPEN SIGN shifts to 111 255 in zone 2
&overlay OPEN SIGN scales to 0.583 0.583

#This will allow everything to come in at once, before the transition begins
&zoom reset
&cut to zone 2
@transition fade in black in 3.5

set format cinematic

@pause for 1.5
@pause for 500
@transition fade out black in 3

music off

OR

EXT. LUXE CAFE - DAY with OPEN SIGN spot 0.583 111 255 in zone 2

&overlay OPEN SIGN opacity 100%
#&overlay OPEN SIGN moves to layer #

Basically, I suggest combining your lines regarding spot directing into one line. I think Episode may just be experiencing an error due to multiple lines of spot directing for one overlay. I hope this helps.
