I always try to make my chapters at least 1000-1500 lines long, so what I need help with is, (does that seem like a reasonable amount of lines?) this includes, (10 outfit dressing game) (hair & lip customization) ( up to 3 to 4 scene changes.)
That’s another question, how many scene changes should there be/ how long should the characters stay in one scene?
I’m starting to feel like my story is going downhill and I’m already on the 3rd chapter, which I have restarted at least 5 times with 5 different stories.
I watch my story on the app from beginning to end to time it and get a feel for what the readers will experience. Don’t sweat so much on characters being in one setting for too long. It’s your story, write it the way you like it. Sometimes when i feel that way I will move scenes around like having a character walk in, then zoom to them walking to a location, then some conversation, then pan to another zone, conversation, then cut to a close up.
Thank you so much. I just worry that when I am finished it won’t be something worth reading, so I’ve really been trying to make it perfect. I honestly have written this story out five different times, changing characters’ names at least ten times . But you are right this is my story, and hopefully, it turns out well.
Oh believe me, I understand. I stopped writing for 2 years because I felt like it wasn’t a good enough story for readers. But once i put that thought aside and just promised myself I would finish what I started I got excited about the story again. Regardless if what people think, you have to like your own story.
with the amount of work your putting in your story, i really want to read it when its published. you seem to be doing really well, scrapping stuff is apart of the process so dont worry about that.
Hey some advice I’d recommend is to not worry about the line count . Try reading through your story and timing how long it takes and do it that way . Most ppl like chapters that are 10-15 mins .
Thank you so much , I kinda felt like that was a part of my story going bad because I kept having to go back and fix things, and then I kept starting the story over . It’s nice to know I’ll have someone reading it when it’s finished .
of course <3 that doesnt mean your story is bad, means your mindset is good. dm me anytime when some is published and i’ll check it out. continue doing what ur doing though and take as much time as u need to make it how you want it to be.
