In my story I want the reader to see the girls face first on the background carpet, and then on a different background (ceiling) I want it to show the guys face smiling. So, basically it goes back and forth on the girls face and then back to the guys face. (Staring contest). I did this but when i play it on the app it looks weird because it has the girl and after like 3 seconds the guy comes up and it looks “sloppy”.

You have every command in separate line starting with @. I’m not so smart to know everything by head (I admit that), but looking at this I have a feeling like every next line starts after a beat.

So I’d say you started first scene almost ok.
INT. BACKGROUND
&zoom on X Y to Z in 0
Start the zoom with & instead of with @.

After that place characters, one line for each, starting with &.
&CHARACTER spot XXX AND CHARACTER faces XXX AND CHARACTER starts ANIMATION and CHARACTER moves to layer Y.

Start all 4 scenes like this.

The first zoom put on one character.

After pause put zoom on another character, but start the second zoom with @.
