So I’m writing a story and I wanted a scene where the main character hears a voice coming from the room beside her. But I don’t want the name to appear until the other characters tells her their name. How can I change the display name temporarily? 
Remove the display name of that particular character. And save it.

So if you want to do that, you have to create two separate characters. The first one for your scene in which the main character hears a voice coming from the room beside her, you put the space for DISPLAY NAME to blank (delete all words in it). After that scene and the character tells the MC their name, switch characters to the second character which you insert the character’s name in the display box and continue dialogue
So basically you will need 2 characters that swap places, the one without the name for scene 1 and the one with the name for the rest of the scenes onward
