Whenever the non-speaking character emotes there is a pause. I would just prefer for them to emote while the other person is talking. How can I change this?

Try using the & sign instead of @ for the mother’s reactions.
This will make her reaction happening at the same time as the character FEMONE is talking, without any pauses.
