GCSEs are exams in England and Northern Ireland (not sure if anywhere else does them)

The text uses analogies/metaphors to make connections between ideas such as:

  • Mug shots and CRISPR’s use of smaller pieces of viruses as an identifying system for “bad” viruses
  • Computer mouse and CRISPR’s precise nature that allows biologists to focus on one particular spot
  • Scissors/pencil and CRISPR’s ability to cut out old/write in new genetic material
  • cruise missile and CRISPR’s ability to home in on a very particular target
    I can try and write up analysis for them myself if you’d like but that’s at least a good place to start

I’m not sure if this is in anyway helpful, but they have come up with a CRISPR-based test to diagnose COVID-19. It is incredibly fast and cheap.
