How can you transition from a background to another

I’ve seen this on the story Mindreader, where the character is zoomed and after it, appears zoomed it in other background.
I’m sorry if I’m not being clear, but can you help me?

INT. BACKGROUND1 NAME - DAY

INT. BACKGROUND2 NAME - DAY

Do this without using transitions. Is that what you mean?

Yeah, like that. I already did it like that but between the transition, appears a black screen and I don’t want that. And I know that there’s that kind of transitions in the story Mindreader.

I tested it out and I don’t have that issue. Do you have your characters standing in spot when that happens? Use & instead of @
