How do spot direct just in general

I’ve been very confused with spot directing. I’ve looked at other threads and none of them really made any sense to me. So, how do you position people, and know where there going to stand? How do the different positions work? Such as position with the 1.250

Do it like for example:

@CHARACTER walks to spot 1.250 (other number)

And the character will walks to the specific spot u want her or him in
