How do you set a character behind an overlay?

Hi I need help. I’m trying to spot direct a character behind a coffee table overlay and I’m confused. What is the code for this? This is what I have and I don’t think it’s right.

INT. TRENDY INDUSTRIAL FLAT LIVING ROOM FULL - NIGHT with INT. TRENDY INDUSTRIAL FLAT LIVING ROOM COFFEE TABLE - NIGHT in zone 2 at layer 0

@cut to zone 2

@DAD spot 1.0 170 200 in zone 2 at layer -1 and DAD is idle_sit_neutral_loop

If you want a character behind an overlay, the overlay layer number always needs to be higher, so in this case higher than layer -1, you can make the overlay at layer 1 or higher, like this.

INT. TRENDY INDUSTRIAL FLAT LIVING ROOM FULL - NIGHT with INT. TRENDY INDUSTRIAL FLAT LIVING ROOM COFFEE TABLE - NIGHT in zone 2 at layer 1

&DAD spot 1.0 170 200 in zone 2 at layer -1 and DAD is idle_sit_neutral_loop
@cut to zone 2

Thank you so much, also do you know how to move the overlay to where you want it in the scene?

You’re welcome, yes all you need to do is use “spot directing” and once you have your overlay where you’d like, you can add that to your script :blush:

It worked, thanks again! :slight_smile:
