I’m fairly new to this forum, been writing my story for almost 2 years… The issue is, I didn’t know about anything when I started writing. I fumbled through the writers portal taking all of two weeks figuring it out on my own. Determined to write my story, I’m still learning tricks and trades, that I had no idea about. I’m an avid reader and surprisingly, if the stories, that I read, leads to something, and send at message in the end, I’m all about that, but, there’s no GEMS in my story, just reading, choices and fun.
You don’t have to spend money to enjoy my stories and you can change hairstyles and clothes, you get to choose what’s premium. You get to chose what’s a golden choice to you and I want a happy free experience for you,
How does this work… You may be asking how does my topic ties into my rant.
Well, I want to know about the GEMS, why are they necessary and what are their purpose? Should I be adding them? I think in my personal opinion, If you use GEMS it should be limited to one or 2 per episode/chapter.
I detest when a writer asks you to make a choice and you make it spending gems then they stop you on their choice to make you spend more GEMS to continue with the choice you already spent the GEMS for. It seems desperate, and money-hungry. I dont’ necessarily know how the GEMS in the story work, but if I’m wrong, I apologize, but I’ve been reading stories between Episode and Chapters and Episode is 100% times better than Chapters. I’m writing for Episode, but only read on Chapters, when I heard about IVY, wanting to see what type of next level uncensored (to a certain degree) can you write about in that type of app.
Those stories are designed to take your money and that’s it. Maybe one or 2 at the most won’t bash you, but I’m so proud to be associated with Episode. Those other people are soo, hungry, they will alter their story if you don’t buy. You will not even communicate with your main love interest if you don’t spend the GEMS to do so, one story I read, he went above and beyond after hurting the MC, and I had to spend 30 GEMS to forgive him, I didn’t do it in that story, she left him after he did everything to make it right. It was horrible. How can you abandon your real story, when, you’re a real writer, just because you didn’t get GEMS. #Episode for life, I will never write for a money hungry app like the others, don’t get me wrong, I spent money to compare, I spent an obsence amount of money in Chapters, vs Episode. It was a research, and I’m going to say, I’m sticking with Episode, for my reads, for my fans and out of integrity.
Long story short, Is this what writers are doing??? Baiting people to buy GEMS and will forgo the real story if they don’t get paid and will cheat the readers. I’m also writing myself, so I could see right through it. The books that I have read on episode; I haven’t seen anyone who will change the outcome of their story if you didn’t purchase the GEMS or premium choice. I’m going to leave Chapters a comment too. But #TEAMEPISODE…Others can kick Rocks…

I could be wrong because I don’t think I kept chapters for longer than a day but it seemed like chapters didn’t have any/many community stories and that most of the stories were from the app which very much is money hungry rather than the community of people who just want to write
well basicly the gems heve the same purpose as anywhere alse - to get money from the reader.
When you read episode original stories almost all have in each chspter a gem choice. But usually and in this ouy are right readers is not punished with bad ending for not using gem choices even in the original episode stories.
In comunity sories it works the same - because most reades do not like them writers usually do not give them or use them only to boost up point if the story has point system…also it is new feature still in beta testing if I am right so some time ago comunuty writers were not able to add gem choices.
It it has some advantage for the writer - yes it might have…episode can actually pay you for your story if you get enoug reads…and thay request less reads if you have gems in chapters…so with gem choices you can get quicker beteen the people who make money on episode.
But it seems to me writers here do not misuse it the way you described.
I use the gem choice for bosting up points…reades get points for choices if he choices right e doesnt neeed the boost …points are used for unlocking special scenes…but I make it so that you do not get plane bad outcome if you do not have enoug points…I didnt ad the gem option there before I added it after fans were asking for it.
And no I am not making money from episode.
That’s correct.
They have a “community” story section, but it’s for tap stories. Authors cannot add choices and definitely can’t add gem choices.
