How many lines do y'all put in a chapter?

Hey guys! so I know there isn’t a right/wrong answer to this, I was just wondering what you guys do.
I am writing a story rn and I want to know what is a good length (in lines) for my chapter :blush: :joy: thanks :heart:

Really depends on what chapter it is and how long you personally want your story to be. I like to think at least 10-15 minutes max. Depending on how much background stuff, and extras you’re putting into your stories you’ll have at least 5000-7000 lines xD

I write 5-8 min, so anywhere between 800 lines to 5,000. I good way to see the length is to re-read what you wrote and time it at the same time. My first chapter was 6 min and that was 4.5k lines, and my second chapter is 5 min at 830 lines. The first chapter did have customization, so that did have a hand in the first two chapters.

My first few stories where always around 1k lines per episode.

Now with my ongoing ones it’s usually 2-3k lines, with the occasional episode that has CC and so rockets up to 8k.

And then I have one extra AF, gender choice story with a minimum of 23k lines per episode

I mean it depends-
My intro is like 800-1k lines so I’m working on making em like 3k-6k lines or sum

Sheesh… You put my 6k to shame lol. :sweat_smile:

My lines vary from 3k-4k. One of my episodes had over 6k lines and I wanted to die lol.

My first episode is about 2.7k lines, I believe.
@amberose @LiyahxWrites (especially because you read my first chapter, Aaliyah) is that bad? Now I’m self conscious about how much I write…
Should I add more?

That’s good for a first chapter. My first chapter only has about 1500 lines lol.

Really depends on what’s going on in the chapter. Like, I feel that every chapter should unfold as you’re writing it so you can’t really predict exactly how many lines that would take up. You may want to add something in between or cut something out, so it’s really unpredictable :joy:

In the first episode of my story I currently have 3123, and I’m planning on ending the episode there. I was initially planning on doing exactly 3000 lines, but that backfired horribly :sweat_smile:
