I imagine a lot so this leads me to write more!!!
Yes! Do you use advanced directed?
I use about 3K lines but I feel like my episodes are short
Do you use a lot of spaces or advanced directing?
I use a bit of advanced directing because I am still new to it.
I put spaces between my commands or dialogue. All of my script clumped together makes me loose my place so I have to make a space after everything thing I do. Sometimes I use advanced directing
Same lol
That makes sense then. The more spaces you use, the less actual lines of code or dialogue you’ll have.
Yeah. I did that for my first story (never going to be published) and it was so confusing.
I feel you!
Without cc and overlays and all that jazz, about 1000 and then it goes to 2000.
I’m thinking that’s about what mine will be.
Well keep in mind some chapters will be more or less, my longest (Without cc) is around 3000 and my shortest is maybe 700
The last chapter I did was over 15k but like @anon6748744 already said, it’s full of advanced directing with several overlays in one scene, crowds and mini games it would say it’s around 1-2K lines of actual stuff happening
On average, my episode stories include 5k lines. The minimum is 2k and the max is 7k. I know, my episodes are short.
Per branch I’d say my code is around 4k-5k lines. With all of the other branches, CC, intros, outros, all of my chapters are about 45k-50k lines. My chapters usually take about 15-20 minutes to read, though. So a 5-10 minute chapter (many people prefer this length) may only take about 1k-2k !
forget about the number of lines. Since it’s really individual and depends on the coding style.
You can have the same dialogue taking the same reading time but someone can have 10 times bigger amount of lines–
The reason is that one can have simple directing while the other adds lots of effects zooms moving overlays on the background and he makes all command on a single line whole other make many commands on one line using AND,…
Also id you have lot of choices it makes the script longer but the reading time keeps the same.
So what makes more sense is to simply measure the reading time - use any online stopwatch and measure your reading time - read the chapter with your normal reading speed. If you are above 10 minutes then you have a long enough chapter.
Under 10 minutes will be perceived by some readers as too short.
The most common length is 10-15 minutes of reading time.
In my opinion being under 10 minutes is risky - yes some readers might prefer it but there ware many polls about this and the majority always wants 10-15. If its around 5 many will not go on with reading simply because they do not get enoug for one pass.
Mine is about 2k to 3k lines per episode, this is excluding CC which is about 12k lines lol
And the episode length is about 15 to 20 mins.
10k dang, mines are 2k. Unleash i got cc or mini games. Then its much more
