I’m in the middle of writing a scene and the dialogue is getting pretty wordy…
In your opinion, how many lines of dialogue (speech bubbles) would be too many between the MC and the LI?
Thanks!

Maybe 25-30+ per scene since that’s quite much, in my opininon.
That’s what I was afraid of! lol
maybe try only putting the important information?
It’s all important!
yeah I’ll try to thin it out or maybe fit more per bubble…
As long as it doesn’t top 40 for one scene with only 2 characters that might be ok?
Well think to yourself, “does the reader need to know all of this right NOW?” maybe you can incorporate the information into later scenes, by having a character mention it as a question, or show don’t tell? If it’s really important, I do recommend show not tell.
If writing it, it feels like too much, then it’s too much! While the information might be vital, if you even think people will lose interest then change it up. Like @MiyakoMiyu said maybe some of the dialogue could be moved to other scenes or summed up quicker. Unless it’s super important to the plot then go slow but only if it’s going to hold attention and be beneficial
