So I just released my new story about 2 weeks ago, and all I’ve got to far is 4 reads. 4 freaking readsss
I’ve been coding it for close to 9 months, so just as other authors I’ve dedicated sooo much time to coding and directing. I really love writing on here but without reads it seems so meaningless. This is my 2nd story I’ve released for far, my first story being a classic story (I’m an old reader and still enjoy that style) so I’m not unfamiliar with the works of publishing and advertising a story.
I totally understand not everyone might like my directing, plots etc, but personally I really don’t think it’s that bad!! Not to toot my own horn, but with the groups of people I’ve asked to give me reviews, I’ve gotten good feedback. But lately with the low reads it has me rethinking about my writing quality.
I know this process takes patience, and also takes advertising such as posting on other threads or doing r4r’s, but I’ve already done all of those things and still have a very low read count. If anyone had advice or thoughts I’d like to read them.

Have you been promoting your story on social media - meaning sneak peeks, fun screenshots and edits of characters stuff like that? Offer read-for-reads (or gem-for-gems if you are able to)? Have you shared your link in the new Discord - there’s a section for authors to share their stories?
It takes awhile to amass reads and it doesn’t mean that the story isn’t good
Don’t give up on yourself or your story
Just keep promoting and working to get it out to as many people as possible, You’ll get there eventually!
You can also try reaching out to the Instagram review groups that are still active; That’s a good way to reach more people and if you’ve gotten good reviews in the past then having a few more put out there for you isn’t a bad way to go.
Just keep your head up and keep grinding until you reach your goals

I’m sorry that your story isn’t performing as well as you’d hoped. This is quite a common thing for a lot of authors but just know that it doesn’t reflect the quality of your story. It’s difficult to gain visibility in the community when there are so many people trying to promote their stories and it doesn’t help that there’s no “new stories” section in the app like there used to be (as far as I’m aware anyway) and that our profiles don’t give out notifications when we update.
The only advice I can offer is to keep going at it, reads will come in if you actively promote your story and update.
Many authors who are perceived as successful to the community started out with little to no reads. Sometimes the success you seek can take longer than you anticipated.
If you see a post where someone’s asking for recommendations - recommend your story.
If you see a relevant post asking for shelf feature nominees, put your story name out there.
Also, I probably shouldn’t say this lol but sometimes stories are featured on shelves if the team receive a ticket where the author has expressed their feelings about putting so much work in and not being featured on any shelves or getting any reads. It’s more likely they’ll reach out and possibly feature authors on a shelf if their story hasn’t had much attention for some time.
Maybe also add the link to your story?

I also wanted to say thanks for featuring me in your story and I did enjoy reading it!

So, I just finished reading the first chapter, and honestly you have some talent, girl🤌🏾I think the story was compelling, dialogue was dang near flawless, and the spot directing was very skilled.
This was one of the few mistakes I saw, but literally everything else was spot on. Keep at it, I think you should be proud🙂

You have to promote your story. It’s as simple as that.
I wish I thought of that…thank you for the advice.

Lol but in all seriousness promoting only goes so far honestly, if ALL new stories were featured in the new stories section it’d be a much more beneficial way to find new readers and authors.
